MASON, Ohio (AP) -- NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Aaron Fike was arrested in an amusement park parking lot after authorities found a substance believed to be heroin in his sport utility vehicle, police said.

Mason police said Fike, 24, and his fiancee, Cassandra Davidson, were arrested Saturday afternoon on charges of possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Bond hadn't been set and both remained in Warren County Jail late Sunday.

Police officers at Kings Island amusement park in suburban Cincinnati called Mason police after noticing suspicious activity in Fike's Toyota Sequoia, Mason police said in a release.

Fike drives the No. 1 Toyota Tundra for Red Horse Racing in the Craftsman Truck Series. He is eighth in points with 1487, 566 behind series leader Mike Skinner.

``We are working with NASCAR to obtain further information on the incident and will release more information as the facts become available to us,'' team owner and general manager Mike DeLoach said in a statement.

Mason police are investigating, and drug analysis results from the Miami Valley Regional Crime Laboratory are pending, police said.

Just what the racing community needs, more drivers with drugs. Many of us know where he came from and was having a promising career and now look what may happen.

Too bad for his career, hope he gets the book thrown at him,but on the bright side,it will open a seat for someone else.

Stuff like this goes back to the Tim Richmann days, That was kinda kept hush, hush, for a long time..

Just for your info Tim Richmond did not have a drug problem. Tim lived in the fast lane and it cost him his life, but his problem wasn't with drugs. Nascar tried to get him out of the sport by saying it was drugs but Richmonds death was not caused by drugs or drug use.Tim Richmond died from AIDS not drug use.

I thought everyone knew why Richmond died. Not like it's been a big secret. At least not for the last few years when NASCAR history is spoken of. BTW, I was just joking about the Bloomer thing. Just stirring the pot a little.

drug testing

maybe nascar should test everyone not just the ones they perceive to be on drugs, alot of jobs require random tests.

This is so ridicolous. So many people would die to have the life of a professional racer including me, and people like aaron fike and tyler walker who have been given this chance throw it all away due to stupidity. It makes me so mad when i see crap like this, its like get a grip why would you do something so stupid. Oh i'm sure they will say its cause all the stress of a professional athlete/racer, bullcrap, i'd love to have the stress of a racers life on me, and i'm sure half the people on here would. This is just unbelievable.

The reason Tim Richmond's name is sometimes associated with drugs was because of the medicines they were treating him with for AIDS came back on their drug tests.

I wasnt trying to get anything started, all I know is I watched a special on TIM some years ago and they assocated him with the fast lane and drugs,,, then later the aids thing came out in the story. He was one of my favorites,, and its a shame that a driver has to do sometihin like this,,, Hope they can get him help and get him on another path,,,,

This kid was doing one of the worst drugs you could do. His fiance must be a real winner.

I totally agree, I think every athlete that is involved in a sport that can cause serious harm to a person should be randomly drug tested. Nascar, Drag Racing, Dirt Racing any of those and more. You can do alot of harm if your under the influence driving a car a hundred miles an hour for a sport.

I agree too.

I think getting him help ASAP would be the first priority. And hope he can maintain sobriety for the rest of his life. Addiction is a terrible thing no matter what it is. Good Luck in Recovering .....

I sure am glad that you guys have his whole life figured out by the police finding drugs in his truck. How do you know they were his? How do you know it is even herion before test come back? What if his wife/girlfriend has a drug problem and it was hers? In this country everyone is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY! So before we throw the book at anyone or get anyone some help maybe get some facts? If he is proven guilty then fine let him have it, but I live in the US how bout you?

Innocent Till Proven Guilty??? Thats The Biggest Joke. More Like The Other Way Around. They Sure Don't Treat You Like An Innocent Man Before They Prove You Guilty!!!!

Herion Or Not, I Can Prove Him Guilty Of One Thing For Sure...... He's Guilty Of Being A Dumbass! And When You Choose A Career In The Spotlight, Being A Dumbass Isn't A Luxury You Can Afford Anymore.

You lay with the dogs, you get the fleas comes to mind. Irregardless of whose heroine it was. Doesn't really matter anyway, it was in "his" vehicle. That makes him "in possession". With todays drug laws, I'd say that makes him guilty.

Not alot of facts to get here either. The police arrested him for possession of a substance they believed to be heroine. I'm sure they ran a field test to determine what the substance was. They can't just assume it was heroine, and place him under arrest for allegedly being in possession.

Sorry Davt...looks like an open and shut case to me.
