You could just use a piece of tube, but that would be bad for the environment. That would make Al Gore very sad. Check the late model salvage yards for a converter.

its gonna be just as bad for the environment if i drive without anything there i was thinking of just putting tubing there till i get the $$$ but will it hurt my engine or could i be fined for it?

after market replacement converters are available for $42.00 each and you have to have a converter on your ford for the emmissions,or your check engine light will be on all the time.Salvage yards CANNOT sell converters------$10,000.00 ---fine---I Know.hope this helps ya.---jim

Wow, I had no idea.. Thieves can steal them off of cars and sell for scrap but a legit business that sells used parts cannot? Makes sense.. Government at work...

Get one on there. Your computer in your truck makes a lot of changes on how your engaine runs and if you live in Mo. you will fail emissions. Call your insurance company. Midget racer is right thats theft. They are worth gold on the streets and get stolen everyday.

i called them and started a claim still gotta pay my deductible I had no clue they were worth alot like that....... if anyone visits choteau island by granite city i wouldnt go far from your vehicle guess thats my fault for hunting public land

Don't put a pipe or aftermarket cat on there. w/ a piece of pipe, you will have cat efficiency codes. if you put an aftermarket on there, you will get out of warranty, and it'll go bad. No agency polices aftermarket cats, just factory units... We deal w/ this issue occasionally and the ins co's handle it all (minus deductible) Yeah, it'll cost you and your ins co $1300 and some crackhead will get $100 or so out of it for 10 mins of work... kinda funny aint it ? As much as I hate to say it, I like mine,BUT They should ban cordless sawsalls. Maybe regulate the sales of them?

The same thing has happened to my sons truck but it is a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. Where can I get a cat for $$42.00 ???
Everywhere I look they are at least $350.00 any help would be appreciated.

The price of a cat is directly related to the amount of Platinum it contains.
If you only plan on keeping the vehicle for a short amount of time, then use the cheap after market cat because it is sure to fail. And also be aware that depending on your vehicles computer cat monitor program the aftermarket cat may not be efficient enough to keep the engine light off. If you plan on keeping the vehicle long term then plan on spending the big bucks for the dealer parts counter cat. Also a poor running engine, running with the check engine light on for extended periods of times and especially misfires will deteriorate Cats.

yeah i have called everywhere and no one says they can get a universal cat for a 2008 says it too new..

would it hurt my truck if i just put a piece of flex pipe in replace of the cat for a few days till i can get into the dealership they say it will take about 2 weeks to get the cat?o and its leaking exhaust into the cab thats why i want to put something there so i can still drive it

no, it will not 'hurt it' to drive it with a piece of tubing in place of the missing cat. it will, however, turn the check engine mil on, with a variety of cat related dtc's. i wouldn't rcommend it doing it long term, and use the truck sparingly until you get it repaired. i cant belive it will void any warranty, as long as it's fixed w/factory parts. after you repair it, clear any dtc's, and it may take up to 2 days to reset readiness, which is what emissions test stations look at to determine pass/fail. ps... watch where you park next time!

i thought i was safe parking in a lot with cameras thanxs for the info i dont plan to drive much just get to and from work till the dealership gets the parts in

About the only solution I've come up with.......

Well, If you want to theftproof your new cats, the best way I've seen(as much as I hate to say it) is to lower your truck. I havent seen many stolen off of lowered cars.... seems to be more common on cars w/ higher ground clearance. I'm sure you'd hate to do this to your truck though....

Well Hell ---I have over 100 converters I have recently cut off of late model cars and trucks--some are like new---most are factory converters, some with o2 sensors etc etc.---I will sell em to ya for the current market price. Also getting ready to cut over 100 more off cars that I am crushing this week.
