What? What title?
A woman I work with has asked me to post this asking for help from the local racing community.
She is the Cubmaster of a Cub Scout Pack in Union, Missouri, and they are working on plans for a Pinewood Derby for January 17, 2004. Apparently they had relied on assurances from a local racer that he would be donating recycled trophies to the pack for the derby. He was also invited to the derby to hand out the trophies. They had relied on this information and let the kids believe that they were going to be winning real, recycled racing trophies this year for Pinewood Derby. Apparently the local racer has now backed out on this offer as he doesn't know if he can afford to share any of his trophies with the cub scout pack.
She is now frantically chasing down anyone who might be able to lead her to a kind, generous racing professionals who might share past racing trophies with the boys of Pack 442. They are looking for four small trophies for best of class and three trophies for first, second and third place for speed. The Cub Pack has a Website at Cubscoutspack442.org which shows photos of the sweet little boys that are members of Pack 442. An especially nice shot is found on the page for their visit to the local fire station--the photo of the boys lined up in the fire truck--as if they all thought they were about to take off to a fire at a moment's notice.
They would be glad to thank any such racer on their Website for their donation. They had originally offered to place photos of the local racer handing out the trophies in his racing gear, as well as photos of him signing autographs next to his racecar (parked at our local high school where the Pinewood will be conducted), on the Website. It might be good PR for him and the kids would have a blast meeting him. Right now, they would settle for any offering of trophies they can get--along with an autographed photo of the racer who donated them, which we would be glad to place on their Website with a thank you to the racer.
I know the local racing community will want to pull together to make things right for these kids. Please respond by PM or post your reply. Thanks to everyone.
