CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Alabama Memorial Day Weekend Triple Header has been postponed due to the high percentage of rain forecast over the three-day period. With a less than desirable weather forecast looming on the horizon, track and series officials agreed that it was in everyone’s best interest to postpone the events.

The $2,000-to-win Stars and Stripes 40 at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL has been rescheduled for Friday night, May 29, and the $2,500-to-win Salute To The Armed Forces 50 at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL has been rescheduled for Saturday night, May 30.

The $2,000-to-win American Freedom 40 at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL will be postponed until later in the year on a date to be determined. The two-day Open-Wheel Modified show at Deep South Speedway is still on, according to track officials.

The Alabama Bonus Bucks point fund and all other bonus awards will be reworked to reflect the two-race series next weekend, and will be announced early next week.

“In these days of a rough economy, we have to be extra careful in considering the weather because of the high costs of traveling to the races for both the fans and competitors,” NeSmith Chevrolet President of Operations and Communications Roby Helm said. “In the past, we went to the track, and if it rained out the show, we rescheduled and came back. Nowadays people are more conscious about the high cost of traveling, and after talking with the track owners this evening and looking at several weather forecasts, we were all in agreement that it was in everyone’s best interest to postpone this weekend’s races.”

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will be bringing the “Ride For Life” two-seat dirt late model to the East Alabama Motor Speedway rescheduled event on Saturday night, May 30 where fans will have an opportunity to bid for rides at race speed with their favorite drivers. All of the proceeds from the auctions will benefit the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
