NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS ANNOUNCES 2008 NATIONAL TOUR SCHEDULE

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series announced its 2008 National Tour schedule today with 21 point races currently listed with at least three more to be announced in the coming weeks. The 2008 schedule features events at 16 different tracks in seven states.

The first event of the 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series has already been contested at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL on January 5-6 with Royce Bray of Hull, GA taking the Ice Bowl win. The series will return to Talladega Short Track on September 20 with a 50-lap $3,000-to-win race.

The next event of the 2008 season will be run this Saturday afternoon at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS with the 40-lap $2,500-to-win 8th Annual Winter Classic. The final points race of 2008 will be run at Columbus Speedway on November 29 with a 50-lap $3,000-to-win event as a part of the Possum Town Grand Prix.

Columbus Speedway will also host the 3rd Annual NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Fall Nationals with the $2,000-to-win Invitational Race, the Race of Regions, and the Race of Champions during the Possum Town Grand Prix weekend on November 28 and 29.

East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL will host a trio of point races with 40-lap $2,500-to-win races on February 21 and 22, and a 50-lap $3,000-to-win race on February 23. East Bay Raceway Park will also be the site of the 4th Annual 100-lap $10,000-to-win Crate Racin’ USA World Championship Race on December 12-13.

Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL will be one of seven new venues on the 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series schedule with a two-day 75-lap $5,000-to-win event on March 21-22. Flomaton Speedway will also join the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for 2008.

Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS will present the richest point race of the season with the 100-lap $10,000-to-win Cajun Spring Nationals on April 25-26.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will return to the deep South for a pair of events, beginning on May 9 with a visit to Southern Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS for a 40-lap $2,500-to-win race, and then make their first appearance at A1 Raceway in Slidell, LA for a 50-lap $3,000-to-win event on May 10.

Memorial Day weekend will see the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series running a pair of races at new venues in the Peach State. The series travels to Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, GA for a 40-lap $2,500-to-win race on May 23, and then it on to Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, GA for a 50-lap $3,000-to-win race on May 24.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will return to Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, IN for a 50-lap $3,000-to-win event on June 21. The series will be announcing a 40-lap $2,500-to-win companion race in Kentucky for June 20, the series first visit to the Bluegrass State.

The July 4th Holiday weekend will see a return to track it has previously visited with a new name. Fort Payne Motor Speedway will host a two-day 75-lap $5,000-to-win race on July 3-4. Fort Payne Motor Speedway is now owned and operated by the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series, and is being completely revamped.

The series visited the track in 2006 when it was known as Thunder Mountain Speedway. The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will be moving its headquarters to Fort Payne Motor Speedway in the coming weeks. Fort Payne Motor Speedway will also present a 40-lap $2,500-to-win series race on September 21.

Penton Raceway in Penton, AL and East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL will host the Alabama Bonus Bucks Weekend with a pair of 40-lap $2,500-to-win races on July 18-19 respectively. If a driver can win both races, he will receive a $2,000 bonus for a weekend payday of $7,000.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series has three weekends open in the month of August which it is looking to fill in the coming weeks.

The Labor Day Holiday weekend will have the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series returning to Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS for a two-day 75-lap $5,000-to-win event on August 29-30. It will be the third straight year the series has visited WMP on Labor Day weekend.

Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL is a new track in the 2008 schedule that will play an important role in determining the National Championship, as they will host a two-day 75-lap $5,000-to-win race on October 10-11 as a part of the David Hare Memorial Top Gun Tournament. Green Valley Speedway will also be a part of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series in 2008.
