CARTERSVILLE, GA – An unfavorable weather forecast has forced a one-week postponement of the Mid-State Nationals presented by Kirk Auto Group for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour at Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS. The two events that were scheduled for this Friday and Saturday nights have been rescheduled for Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8.
Several meteorologists are calling for the possibility of severe weather over the weekend in an area that was already devastated with tornadoes last weekend. NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS and Central Mississippi Speedway officials decided it is in the best interest of everyone involved to postpone the two events for one week.
“With tornadoes touching down and causing fatalities just a few miles from the track last Saturday, and the talk of more severe weather this weekend really touches the nerves of competitors and fans in the area, who would probably be hesitant to get out in it,” NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Founder and Director Mike Vaughn said. “The long range weather forecast for May 7 and 8 is much favorable, and we want to put on the best show as we can at Central Mississippi Speedway.”
The Mid-State Nationals presented by Kirk Auto Group at Central Mississippi Speedway will be two complete shows for the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Tour with a 40-lap $2,000-to-win race on Friday night, May 7, and a 50-lap $2,500-to-win event on Saturday night, May 8. The two races will be Rounds 7 and 8 of the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring season.
