NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR AUGUST 3

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Only two events were completed in Week 18 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season with eight races being rained out. Jacob Anderson of Murphy, NC picked up an East Region win, and Michael Santangelo of St. Rose, LA was a West Region winner.



Anderson drove the Jacob Anderson Company GRT to his sixth win of the season on Saturday night at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC. Santangelo took his first win of the season on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the Harahan Paint and Body Trak-Star.



The win by Anderson moved him up to the fourth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings. Anderson now has 643 points based on his best 16 finishes with six wins, 17 top five finishes, and 18 top ten finishes in 19 starts. Anderson also brought his Event Point Average above the 40 mark to an EPA of 40.2.



Scott Knowles of Lanett, AL still leads the East Region standings with 760 points, followed by Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL with 723 points, and Dana Eiland of Salem, AL with 689 points. Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL is fifth with 640 points, and Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL is sixth with 632 points.



Jason Deal of Copperhill, TN was able to net some points with a third-place finish on Saturday night at Tri-County Race Track in the Cougar Fireworks GRT. Deal is seventh in the East Region standings with 611 points.



Rounding out the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings are Rodgerick Dykes of Smith Station, AL in the eighth spot with 609 points, Marc Gooden of Lafayette, AL is ninth with 596 points, and the tenth spot is held by Larry Harrod of Plains, GA with 582 points.



East Region rainouts for Week 18 were at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL on Friday night, along with Saturday night events at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.



Talladega Short Track will run a double-points race this Saturday night, and Mountain Raceway Park will run double features this Saturday night. Penton Raceway has rescheduled its double-points race to August 22.



The top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region point standings were unchanged after Week 18 with two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS remaining the point leader with 776 points.



Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is second in the West Region standings with 744 points. Arnold finished third on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in the Reynolds Racing Trak-Star, but was unable to net any points based on his best 16 finishes. Kody Barber of Bogalusa, LA is third with 736 points, and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is fourth with 732 points.



Tracy Brown of Lumberton, MS is fifth with 703 points, and Cliff Williams of Star, MS is sixth with 685 points. Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS is seventh with 665 points, and Owen Stockstill of Purvis, MS is eighth with 622 points. Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is ninth with 583 points.



Randall Beckwith of Kilmichael, MS and Ashley Stockstill of Purvis, MS are tied for tenth in the West Region standings with 562 points. If the season were to end now, Beckwith would win the tie-breaker for the tenth spot, as he has six wins, while Stockstill has none.



Santangelo kept the winning streak alive for Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL as the only chassis manufacturer to post a win in each week of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition. Trak-Star Race Cars leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings with 36 wins this season.



Anderson gave the defending and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR its 29th win of the season to stay in the second spot of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge point standings.



Mastersbilt Race Cars of Crothersville, IN is third with 22 wins in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge point standings followed by Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN with 15 wins, TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN with 6 wins, and C.J. Rayburn Race Cars of Whiteland, IN with one win.
