NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR JULY 27

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Kody Barber of Bogalusa, LA was the big winner during NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 17 competition posting two victories driving the Barber’s Hardware Mastersbilt. Barber was the winner on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS and on Saturday night at South Mississippi Speedway in Gulfport, MS.

Victories number six and seven of the 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season moved him up to the third spot in the West Region standings with 736 points based on his best 16 finishes in 22 starts. Along with his collection of wins, Barber also has 13 top five finishes and 20 top ten finishes.

Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS finished second on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS to net two points and bring his season West Region-leading point total to 776 based on his best 16 finishes in 22 starts. Keeton has six wins, 18 top fives and 19 top tens in the Boland Performance Trak-Star.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is second in the West Region standings with 744 points based on his best 16 finishes in a series-leading 28 starts. Arnold has eight wins, 21 top fives, and a series-leading 27 top ten finishes driving the Reynolds Racing Trak-Star. Arnold came from the 14th starting spot to finish fourth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is in the fourth spot of the West Region standings behind Keeton, Arnold and Barber with 732 points based on his best 16 finishes in 27 starts. Lee has four wins, a series-leading 22 top fives, and 26 top tens driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT.

“Downtown” Tracy Brown of Lumberton, MS holds down the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 703 points based on his best 16 finishes in 22 starts. Brown has driven the Triple R Painting Rocket to two wins, 17 top fives and 20 top tens.

Cliff Williams of Star, MS grabbed his eighth win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the Ware Construction Trak-Star. Williams is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 685 points in 16 starts with 13 top five finishes.

Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS drove the 78 Towing and Recovery Victory Circle to his seventh NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region win of the season on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS. Cooley is seventh in the West Region standings with 665 points in just 14 starts with 13 top fives and 14 top tens. Cooley has two more West Region events to earn full points.

Owen Stockstill of Purvis, MS is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 622 points based on his best 16 finishes in 19 starts with seven top fives and 16 top tens in the Stockstill Trucking Trak-Star. Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is ninth in the West Region with 583 points based on his best 16 finishes in 20 starts with three top fives and 17 top tens driving the D&J Development GRT.

Randall Beckwith of Kilmichael, MS moved into the West Region top ten with his sixth win of the season on Saturday night at Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS driving the Hi-Grade Farm Supply Rocket. Beckwith also has 10 top fives and 11 top tens in 14 starts, and is tied with Ashley Stockstill of Purvis, MS for the tenth spot with 562 points. Stockstill has three top fives and nine top tens in 16 starts driving the Stockstill Trucking GRT.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action on Saturday night, Randy Boyd of Marion, MS posted his second win of the season at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the Michael Harris Construction Trak-Star.

Scott Knowles of Lanett, AL had a pair of third-place finishes during NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 17 East Region action, and continues to lead the East Region standings with 760 points based on his best 16 finishes in 18 starts. Knowles has seven wins, 15 top five finishes, and 17 top ten finishes driving the All-Star Graphics Warrior.

Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 723 points based on his best 16 finishes in 17 starts after driving The Racing Zone GRT to one win, 15 top fives, and 16 top tens.

Dana Eiland of Salem, AL took his fourth win of the season on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL driving the Andy’s Auto Parts GRT. Eiland is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 689 points based on his best 16 finishes in 17 starts. Eiland also has 12 top fives and 15 top tens.

Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 640 points based on his best 16 finishes in 24 starts. Edge has seven top fives and 18 top tens driving the Gar’s Cash Flow Mastersbilt.

Jacob Anderson of Murphy, NC claimed his fifth East Region win of the season on Saturday night at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC driving the Jacob Anderson Company GRT. Anderson is fifth in the East Region standings with 639 points based on his best 16 finishes in 18 starts. Along with his win total, Anderson also has 16 top fives and 17 top tens.

Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL is sixth in the East Region standings with 632 points in 14 starts and still has two more events to earn full points. Nowell has one win and 13 top fives driving the Clarence’s Truck Repair GRT. Jason Deal of Copperhill, TN is seventh with 609 points based on his best 16 finishes in 20 starts. Deal has two wins, 18 top fives and 19 top tens driving the Cougar Fireworks GRT.

Rodgerick Dykes of Smith Station, AL is eighth in the East Region standings with 609 points based on his best 16 finishes in 19 starts with two top fives and 17 top tens driving the Tri-City Machine Works GRT. Marc Gooden of Lafayette, AL is ninth with 596 points in 15 starts after one win, eight top fives and 13 top tens in the RPI GRT.

Larry Harrod of Plains, GA took his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in the Harrod Logging Scorpion, and is tenth in the East Region standings with 582 points in 13 starts. Harrod is still in the East Region title hunt, as he has three more events to earn full points. Harrod has 11 top fives and 12 top tens.

Defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Champion Adam Martin of Talladega, AL picked up his fifth win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Martin is continuing to climb up the East Region standings to the 13th spot with 544 point in just 12 starts after five wins, and ten top fives. Martin can earn full points in four more East Region events.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region action on Saturday night, Josh “The Jet” Henry of Newport, TN drove the Henry Trucking TNT to his fifth win of the season at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN.

Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL had two wins in Week 17 competition by Williams and Boyd to bring its leading total to 35 wins in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturer Challenge. Trak-Star Race Cars also extended its streak of recording at least one win in every week of NeSmith Chevrolet WRS competition this season.

The defending and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturer Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR stayed in the championship hunt with two wins in Week 17 by Eiland and Anderson, plus received credit for three wins by Jerry Goodwin of Wilsonville, AL at Talladega Short Track.

GRT Race Cars is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturer Challenge standings with 28 wins. Mastersbilt Race Cars of Caruthersville, IN has two Week 17 wins from Barber, and is third with 22 wins.

Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fourth with 15 wins. TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is fifth, as Henry gave TNT Race Cars its sixth win of the season. C.J. Rayburn Race Cars of Whiteland, IN is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturer Challenge with one win.
