NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR MAY 18

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Mother Nature was the big winner in Week 7 of the 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season as 11 of 14 scheduled events were rained out. Three Friday night races in the West Region were completed, but the entire weekend in the East Region was rained out.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS picked up his third win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in the Arnold Racing Trak-Star, and took over the point lead in the West Region by five points over Tracy Brown of Lumberton, MS in the Triple R Painting Rocket. Brown finished fourth on Friday night at HMP.

In addition to his three wins, Arnold had seven top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in ten starts to total 426 points. Brown has 421 points with one win, nine top five finishes, and ten top ten finishes in ten starts.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 408 points based on two wins, eight top fives, and nine top tens in ten starts. Lee finished second at HMP in the Billy Riels Racing GRT. Owen Stockstill of Purvis, MS in the Stockstill Trucking Trak-Star is fourth with 339 points based on four top fives, and eight top tens in nine starts.

Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS is fifth in the West Region standings with 338 points after two wins, and six top five in seven starts in the Boland Performance Trak-Star. Keeton finished fifth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park.

Kody Barber of Bogalusa, LA is sixth with 334 points based on three wins, five top fives, and seven top tens in seven starts driving the Barber’s Hardware Mastersbilt. Barber finished sixth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park. Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS in the D&J Development GRT is seventh with 319 points based on two top fives, and eight top tens in nine starts.

Jimmy Howell of Laurel, MS in the Greg’s High Performance GRT is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 306 points based on one top five, and eight top tens in nine starts. Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS in the Lamar Auto Salvage Mastersbilt is ninth with two top fives, and seven top tens in seven starts.

Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS drove the 78 Towing and Recovery Victory Circle to the win on Friday night at Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS, and moved up to round out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings. Cooley has 245 points with one win, four top fives, and five top tens in five starts.

In other Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action, Jason Wilkey of Batesville, AR took his second win of the season on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR driving the Dodds Signs Warrior.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Saturday night events at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, and double-feature races at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS were all rained out.

All events in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region were rained out, including Friday night races at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, GA and Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, and Saturday night races at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN, Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC, and double-features at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Scott Knowles of Lanett, AL in the All-Star Graphics Warrior has 426 points to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with seven wins and nine top fives in nine starts. Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL driving The Racing Zone GRT has 402 points to hold the second spot in the East Region standings based on nine top five finishes in nine starts.

Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 311 points based on one top five finish, and seven top ten finishes in ten starts driving the Gar’s Cash Flow Mastersbilt.

Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL in The Racing Zone GRT, is in the fourth spot in the East Region standings with 320 points based on one win, and seven top five finishes in seven starts. Rodgerick Dykes of Smith Station, AL is fifth in the Tri-City Machine Works GRT with 286 points based on one top five and seven top tens in eight starts.

Marc Gooden of Lafayette, AL driving the RPI GRT is sixth in the East Region standings with 268 points based on three top fives, and six top tens in seven starts. Jason Deal of Copperhill, TN is seventh with 264 points based on one win, and seven top fives in seven starts driving the Cougar Fireworks GRT.

Jacob Anderson of Murphy, NC in the Jacob Anderson Company GRT has one win, and six top five finishes in six starts to hold down the eighth spot in the East Region standings with 242 points. Josh Henry of Newport, TN is ninth in the East Region standings with 237 points based on one win, five top fives and six top tens in six starts driving the Henry Trucking TNT.

Randy Hester of Columbus, GA rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 223 points based on one top five, and three top tens in seven starts driving the Fox Appliance Parts GRT.
