CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 12 of the 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season will see 12 events on the schedule with six in the East Region and six in the West Region. Only one driver in the West Region has reached the 16 Race mark, so everyone else will be competing for full points.

Action in the Nesmith Chevrolet WRS East Region kicks off on Friday night with events at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL and Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, GA. Saturday night events will be held at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC.

Scott Knowles of Lanett, AL and Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL will continue their battle for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region point lead. They were in action on Tuesday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway where Knowles had his worst finish of the season with a third-place showing, and Dudley has his best finish of the season with the win.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action will open on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR and Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS. Drivers at Batesville Motor Speedway will tune-up for a pair of non-point NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events on June 26-27.

On Saturday night, NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region events will be held at Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, South Mississippi Speedway in Gulfport, MS and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region point leader Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS has reached the 16-Race mark of the 2009 season. For the rest of the season, Arnold will now try to net points in trying to improve on his worst point race of the season.

Arnold’s worst weekly point total so far this season is 31, so he will try and earn more points than that this weekend to raise his point total. The most Arnold can net in his first outing this weekend is 29 points. A driver’s best 16 point nights count as his Regional point total, plus any bonus points earned for competing at a National Touring event.
