Nice Racing Surface HighLand

OK I want to say I have given Highland Speedway a hands up for most of the year as far as the calls go. Some have been not right but most have been good I want to give you all a thumbs up on that part I know it is hard to get it right . Thanks for your time

Now I want to give the bad : ( Charlie that was one hell of a racing surface you gave them (sat night) to race on. ) I bet you worked on the track o lets say 30 Min's before the racing started . How nobody got hurt out there is beyond me . I know if you don't like it we can go some were else . Now that is a good fix! Gets the problem fixed don't it ? I also Know there was a lot of different use of the track the week prior . All I got to say you knew that and should have been there to work on it . You had a week to get up there and work on the track . I know I will give you a few rain days that week Still no reason for the track to be like that . We had a better racing surface to race on when we had all the mud from all the rain early in the season . You cant get up there at 2:40 and start working on the track and then dump water on it at 4:00 and think you are going to have a good track . Just Work on the track it has such protenal to be a good track . Make it that way again !

I just want to know if we have to take up a collection for the water bill cause they sure didn't put any on the track:eek: There was a strip down the front staight that didn't even get water put on it. Dry as a bone! They did take plenty of time watering the pit area! The track in turn 3&4 started out with a hole the very first heat race, and only continued to get worse the whole night. I was surprised no one took a roll because of it.

I GIT TO ADMIT IT WAS A ROUGH ONE.. IT WAS KIND OF COOL WATCHING THE LATEMODELS THROW IT IN AND DAMN NEAR TAKE THE CAR NEXT TO OUT BEACUSE HE WAS IN THE AIR...LOL.... $HIT EVEN A COPLUE STREETSTOCKS WOULD COME OUT OF 3 AND 4 AND GET SOME AIR... I AM SHOCKED NO HORNETS ROLLED..

Bob if you want I'll introduce you to one of the guys that helped work on the track all week and you can tell him how to do it. They spent more time than you think. Second, sure the track was a little rough in spots but guess what thats why they call it dirt racing... it's never going to be perfect if you want perfect all the time go to asphalt and knock your self out. It didn't look like Dustin had a problem finding a good groove to race in he looked pretty smooth...JMO

OLD dirt will never level smooth. it doesnt matter how much you work it. have a nice day..:)

Someone always complains about Highlands track, but Belleville was rough Friday night too. Wasn't at I-55 but I heard there were a couple roll overs. Was it rough?

The rollovers at I-55 weren't from the track. One car climbed the wall and went over. The other slid into a car that was spun and went over.

The track was expected to be rough this week because of the fair. The fair board or whoever, made the smart decision to poor a ton of dirt on the track for the motor cross event. Several people I talked to knew it was going to be rough because of this and decided to go elsewhere. You have to expect this with an entire week of events on the track....JMO

The only reason I go to Highland anymore is because its so close. You may get one or two nights of great racing a year, where it seems like other tracks can pull it off once or twice a month. I'm not knocking the track prep guy for putting in some long hours, I just think that something needs to be corrected to where his time spent works toward an effective racing surface. And I realize that weather plays a huge part in track prep and can't be controlled, but other tracks seem to find a way to counteract.

I also think Highland could take a a page out of I55's book on wreck cleanup. They immediately have a wrecker and safety personnel at the scene within seconds.

Actually, Highland got new dirt at the beginning of the 2007 season.

Even so, I've never heard that one before.

Yes, it was rough...

Let's be fair and tell the WHOLE story. I-55 STARTED rough. After the second modified heat, when it was apparent that the track wasn't going to smooth out any, they stopped the action, razor-rolled it, ran a sheep's foot on it, and smoothed it out. The track was very smooth after that, and even started going dry slick in the feature for the late models.

Don't blame Charlie

Once again Charlie is going to take the blame for what the Fair Board did. During the County Fair the Fair Board used THIER RACE TRACK to hold motorcross, demo derby, combine demo, and more, on the race track and infeild. Charlie let the Fair Board use his equipment to prepair the track and infeild for the fair events. This year they broke his Motor Grader trying to level off the dirt from the motocross track, the FairBoard put the dirt on the race track and in doing so broke the turn table. The water truck had a brake like break, but like Charlie said it could have happend any time. How do you break a sheeps foot? I don't know, but leave it up to the Fair Board, they have someone who knows how. Ask yourself, how was the track before the County Fair? Add in all the rain, the broken equipment, and the extra work after the County Fair it's a wonder the track wasn't worse.

Dont quote me on this but I believe I heard they had to work all week on the track, because of the previous weeks events just to get the surface they did for saturday. Had they just worked it Saturday morning it would have been a lot different...

I was at the Highland demo derby and saw the condition of the race track.
I thought sat nights racing surface wasn't the greatest, but given the circumstances what do you expect? It's like that every year. Like Racefan12 said.
As far as the coment by Racingfan03, 1 or 2 good nights of racing? Give me a break. You must have only been there 1 or 2 nights. How many different winners have there been in all classes? How many second third and fourth row winners have there been? Especially in the heats.
I've enjoyed all of the races this year. But nobody ever comes on here and says that, it's always btch about this and btch about that.
Oh yeah a bird crapped on my pickup while at the races, I will btch about that, cause I just washed it (Charlie's fault again:rolleyes:)

Now everyone pay attention.................Next year after Fair week, It's not going to be as smooth as the previous weeks.

its a DIRT Track! most roads to the local tracks are rough. You would be better off staying home bashing tracks on the internet.

Track conditions

Hey adam you said it in very plain english..everyone complains about something about highland... If it's that bad both nights you were there then quit coming. We'd much rather hear how much smoother the road to your house is... We know it's going to be crappy the week after the fair and i do believe that all drivers have the choice "to race or not to race" i'm sure charlie didn't twist everyone's arm to sit and watch, let alone race their car... I myself enjoyed the races.. Highland made some good calls saturday night as well.

I'll be there every saturday like normal.....

Isn't all dirt old. Hence the phrase, "old as dirt."... Every time this year that I have raced there, the track was great.

Dean I will be glad to meet him . Yes Dustin found a good groove to race . 1 of the few . last sat night . Adam Koch if you would actually read i have in the past mostly this year I have been on highlands side as i thought they were doing a good job ! but Saturday ****ed as for as a racing surface no mater How you look at it . And yes DEAN it is dirt still can be made into a good racing surface . Jeffery if they would have worked on the track more often in the past then a few bad times would not be so bad. I have Been there on Saturdays and nobody was there working on the track till after 2:30 and thats a fact like it or not. Yes Once again Charlie gets the blame he is the one in charge of the track and that is who gets the blame when things go wrong just like a Boss at work . I did also state i know there was a lot of stuff going on at the track the week prior but it all ended on the Friday before plenty of time to get your stuff together i can live with the hole in 3 has alwasbeen there no matter what and always will be it has always been a soft spot . Dean if you ask most of the drivers they would say the same thing! Spend more time on working the track . Don't put water on it and send you right out to pack it in after you do put water on it put it on during the day so it gets a chance to get into the track not just on the top and runs off or causes a bunch of ruts on the top . That is all I am saying .
OK modcrew maybe this time it was the fair boards fault .
