Fulton, MS (05/02/17) – There was no first race rust for Eric Cooley behind the wheel of his Bryson Motorsports #33b Eric Cooley Trucking/ Barry Wright/ Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model on Saturday night. In fact, the Fulton, Mississippi racer stormed to the feature win at Magnolia Motor Speedway.
“That’s a heck of a way to start a season,” Cooley said with his signature smile. “We had a good car from the drop of the green, and I was able to take advantage of lapped traffic to get to the lead. Late in the race Chad [Thrash] gave me a good challenge, but luckily we were able to get the win.”
Twenty Super Late Model competitors registered for action at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi), and Eric began his night by laying down the fourth-fastest lap in time trials. As a result, he started 4[sup]th[/sup] on the grid for the feature.
Cooley would slowly work his way through the front markers during the race’s early stages. By the feature’s midway point the leaders were navigating heavy lapped traffic, and Cooley used the opportunity to grab the lead. He would go on to lead the remainder of the event to register his first victory of 2017.
Thrash, Hunter Rasdon, Shay Knight, and Jamey Boland completed the Top-5 finishers.
