Noble Performance by Rodney Sanders; Lucas Oil MLRA Weekend Ahead

Happy, Texas (08/29/17) – For the second-straight week Rodney Sanders visited Victory Lane in his Wichita Tank Racing #20 DriveWFX.com/ Swan Energy/ MB Customs/ Hatfield Racing Engine Modified.
His latest conquest came on Thursday evening at Minnesota’s Nobles County Speedway.
On Thursday night Rodney Sanders was one of 23 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries on hand at Nobles County Speedway (Worthington, Minnesota) for the 7th annual USMTS Summer Slam presented by Pace Performance. Improving three positions in his heat, Sanders posted a 3[sup]rd[/sup]-place finish, earning him the 4[sup]th[/sup]-starting spot for the 40-lap feature.
Inheriting the lead on lap 12 after the leader blew a tire, Sanders held off the field in the remaining 28 circuits, registering his seventh win of the season over Cade Dillard, Jake O’Neil, Ryan Gustin and Dereck Ramirez. He was awarded a $3,000 payday for his efforts.

For the 11[sup]th[/sup] stop of the Hunt for the Casey’s Cup, Sanders traveled to Rapid Speedway (Rock Rapids, Iowa) on Friday evening for the 7[sup]th[/sup] annual USMTS Rapid Rumbles presented by Casey’s General Stores. Passing three cars in his heat, Rodney recorded a 3[sup]rd[/sup]-place finish positioning him 3rd on the starting grid for the A-Main. After leading the opening five laps, Rodney slipped back late to place 3[sup]rd[/sup] behind Dereck Ramirez and Ryan Gustin with Cade Dillard and Stormy Scott rounding out the Top 5.
Following a rainout on Saturday night at Park Jefferson Speedway (North Sioux City, South Dakota), Rodney wrapped up the weekend on Sunday at Casino Speedway (Watertown, South Dakota) with the 2[sup]nd[/sup] annual Sandy Benson Memorial presented by Riddle’s Jewelry and Jurgens Printing. Moving up one spot in his heat, Sanders landed a runner-up finish behind Zane DeVilbiss, locking him into the 9[sup]th[/sup]-starting position for the feature. Rodney Sanders gained four positions in the finale, notching a 5[sup]th[/sup]-place finish behind Ryan Gustin, Stormy Scott, Cade Dillard, and Tim Johnson.

The Labor Day weekend – September 1-3 – will find Sanders shifting gears as he returns to the driver’s seat of his Wichita Tank Racing #20 Super Late Model. He will be taking part in a tripleheader with the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA). Rodney currently leads the rookie of the year standings and is second in the overall points.
The weekend goes green on Thursday at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska). Friday evening takes the touring competitors to Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas), while the three-race swing draws to a close on Saturday evening at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri).
