(Paducah, KY. 8/31/06) The battle between travelers of the Northern All Stars Late Model Series and the Local Drivers of Paducah International Raceway is set for 7:30 pm Friday night.

Drivers who race each and every week at PIR are trying to protect their turf, or dirt if you will, from the touring drivers who make their living traveling around from race track to race track trying to walk away with the lion’s share of the purse. For drivers like Terry English, Dylan Thompson Randy Sellars, Kevin Cole, Michael Steele and others who race at PIR on a regular basis they rely on their knowledge of the hundreds and hundreds of miles that they have had on the track for experience on how to get to the checkers first. For travelers with the Northern All Stars, it comes down to every track in the country that they have driven to get the set up right and figure out what the surface will do. For the fans it means the best Late Model racing any where in the country.

The fans of Paducah International Raceway will be treated to a $2000 to win Late Model feature that will have the big shoes of Randy Korte who is the current Northern All star Point leader returning to PIR just one week after a violent flip in the PIR front stretch that destroyed his race car. Korte walked away bruised and shaken but chalked it up to close racing. For 4-time UMP National late Model Point Champion Rodney Melvin, it is a chance to come back and follow up on a huge win against the local drivers during the Tri-Track Challenge from earlier this year when he picked up a $10,000 payday. For all of the drivers, local or touring, it is a chance to also tune up for The USA World 50 Wayne Coakley/Bob Memmer Memorial Race presented by the Knuckle Busters that will take place on September 15th after being rained out on August 11th.

Race fans will be treated to a full night of racing that will include in addition to the Late Models, UMP Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Crate Late Models, Outlaw Mini Sprints and the wild 4-Cylinder Warriors. Wiener dog races will make their first appearance after succumbing to rain earlier in the season. Our 4-legged friends will race to see who the fastest dog in racing will be. Any one interested in racing their family wiener dog should call the track for more information.

The pit gates will open at 4pm with the grandstands at 5pm. Qualifying will start at 7 pm with racing at 7:30. Tickets are $15 dollars for adults and children under12 are free at Paducah International Raceway.
