O’reilly M.a.r.s. Arkansas Double Header On Tap

Batesville, Arkansas (June 22, 2004) – The stars and cars of the O’Reilly Mid America Racing Series (M.A.R.S.) will roar back into action as they thunder through the Ozark Mountains with a double header in the Razorback state this weekend.

Leading the super late model competitors into battle for the weekend will be Batesville, Arkansas’ own Wendell Wallace. Wallace picked up a win last weekend at Malden Speedway and currently resides atop the series’ standings. Terry Phillips from Springfield, Missouri recorded back to back wins at West Plains Motor Speedway and Tri-City Speedway in last weekend’s action, and currently sits 23 markers out of first place in the series’ points. Jeff Taylor, Bill Frye, and Jeff Floyd round out the top five in the M.A.R.S. standings as the 2004 tour approaches its midpoint.

Other drivers expected to be in action this weekend include Dewaine Hottinger, Peyton Taylor, Jerry Buck, Steve Rushin, Dustin Mooneyham, Joey Mack, Brandon McCormick, Jon Mitchell, Leslie Essary, Gary Stolba, and many more super late model stars of the Midwest.

Night #1 of the double header will find the resident Martians at their home base as they invade the Batesville Speedway, located in Locust Grove, Arkansas, for a $3,000 to win, 40 lap feature event on Friday, June 25th. Night #2 of the double header will see the Martians making their only appearance of the season at Thunder Valley Speedway, which is a 3/8 mile clay oval in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Thunder Valley Speedway is located South of Fayetteville on US 71 to Willoughby Rd. (SR 156), then 0.8 mile east (north of the airport). Gates open at 3:00 with racing at 6:00.
