CAMARGO, IL (3-6-07) – The O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series has released the 2007 schedule that kicks off the inaugural season at the end of May. The Midwest All Star Series was formerly known as the Mid-American Sprint Series and was purchased by the All Stars late last year from Scott Benic and Joe Darmofal. The purpose of this acquisition was to rejuvenate winged 410 sprint car racing in the Illinois and Indiana areas while spreading the All Star brand of racing further West.

Series president Guy Webb, an Illinois native, is excited about the new series and what he hopes to accomplish by providing a sanctioning body for the great caliber of drivers in the Midwest. With several tracks closing, changing ownership, or reducing the number of winged 410 events, Webb saw the need to revive 410 racing in his own back yard.

The inaugural season for the O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series will focus mainly in the Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri area. This region has seen a decline in places for these talented 410 drivers to run and the goal is to provide an opportunity for them to race for a decent purse and increase the fan base in this area with some good old-fashioned wheel to wheel All Star action.

“We want to bring back the days of Jim Moughan, Tim and Joey Montgomery, Jerrod Hull, Manny Rockhold, and the Standridge brothers providing some of the best racing entertainment for the Illinois fans,” said Webb. “We want to reconnect with the rich history of racing in the Illinois area.
Guys like Jim Moughan, Sr., Chuck Amati, Cliff Cockrum, Bubby Jones, and Jerry Blundy. Those are the guys I enjoyed watching as a fan,” Webb continued. “I want to be able to re-create some of that excitement in the Midwest region with real sprint car racing – winged 410 sprints.”

A new web site is also in the works for the series and will be maintained separately from the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions web site, although the two will be inter-linked. News and information, along with race reports and stats, will be maintained for both sites by Black Swamp Media Group who provides several services for both groups.
The new web site can be seen at www.midwestallstarseries.com .

Drivers wishing to compete in the O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series for the 2007 season must purchase a membership in order to be eligible to receive points and discounted pit passes. Membership forms are now available on the new web site for downloading.
