O’REILLY MLRA LATE MODELS SET TO INVADE BENTZ GM COUNTRY SCOTLAND COUNTY SPEEDWAY FOR INAUGURAL PEPSI SUMMER SHOOTOUT

MEMPHIS, Mo. (June 14, 2005) -- Two Show-Me State traditions will come together for the first time this Saturday as the O’Reilly Auto Parts MLRA Super Late Model Series will make their inaugural visit to the popular Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Mo., for the Pepsi Summer Shootout.

Last year, the Midwest Latemodel Racing Association superstars were set to race at the big 3/8-mile Speedway, but Mother Nature had other plans and the event was canceled.

According to the weatherman, this weekend is going to be a weekend to remember in Northern Missouri.

The O’Reilly MLRA Super Late Models will be battling for the $2,500 top prize awaiting the winner of the 40-lap main event.

A full field of the top dirt late model drivers from Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Colorado are expected to be on hand for this mega-event sponsored by Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Memphis, Mo.

O’Reilly MLRA points leader Al Purkey will be looking to cushion his title hopes against the likes of Alan Vaughan, Shane Essary, Chris Smyser, Jeff French, Jason Bodenhamer, David Turner, Reid Millard, Chad Clark, Johnny Bone Jr., Tommy Elston, Gary Webb, and many more.

Fans at the Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway have witnessed some thrilling racing action so far this season, and this Saturday should be no different as fans will be treated to the thrills of the lightning-fast high-powered dirt late models.

This is THE must see show for fans of all ages!

Also running will be the USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series featuring the USRA Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks, along with the fender-to-fender action of the Pony Stocks. The Cruiser class will have the night off this Saturday.

Gates will open at 3 p.m. with hot laps slated for 6:30 and racing to follow. For more information call the Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway office at 515-832-7944, or log on to www.ScotlandCoSpeedway.com or www.MLRAracing.com.
