Beebe, Arkansas (8/03/08) – As the summer temperatures continue to heat up, so does the point’s chase in the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model, and things will only get hotter this weekend as the tour invades Missouri and Arkansas for a pair of big events.

With the season approaching the home stretch, defending O’Reilly MSRA Champion, Joey Mack, from Benton, Missouri holds onto a 21 point advantage over second place, Jeff from Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Both drivers have turned in solid outings over the past few events, but Floyd has been able to cut Mack’s advantage in half heading into this weekend’s events.

Jon Kirby from Russellville, Arkansas is the current Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year point’s leader and continues to maintain the third position in the standings, sitting 128 points out of the top spot.

2007 O’Reilly MSRA Rookie of the Year, Billy Moyer Jr., from Batesville, Arkansas has recorded several strong finishes with the tour in 2008, and sits 51 points behind Kirby in the battle for the third position.

Kyle Beard from Trumann, Arkansas missed two events early in the year, but still resides fifth in the current standings, propelled by a pair of feature wins. With the two tour victories in 2008, Beard also leads the COMP Cams Winner’s Circle Challenge.

Dewaine Hottinger from Russellville, Arkansas has had an up and down year with the tour and currently sits in the sixth position and is only 15 points out of the fifth position, while 2008 Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year contender, Randy Mitchell, from Muldrow, Oklahoma lies in the seventh position and is thirty-three points out of the top five.

Other drivers expected to be in action in one or both events over the course of the weekend include Jeff Sloan (Missouri), Steve Rushin (Missouri), Chris Jones (Missouri), Enik Sanders (Tennessee), Jeff Moss (Arkansas), Dane Dacus (Tennessee), Billy James (Missouri), Robert Lovette (Tennessee), Blake Lane (Arkansas), Todd Hall (Missouri), and many more.

On Friday, August 8th, the tour makes its debut at Malden Speedway in Malden, Missouri in a $2,000 to win/$300 to start event. While this will be the first trip by the tour to the southeast Missouri oval, the track is familiar territory for several of the tour drivers as the facility has hosted several weekly and special events in the past. The 3/8 mile, clay oval will likely see a very memorable event this Friday with many of the drivers making their first return visit in several years. On Saturday, August 9th the action shifts to Poinsett County Raceway in Harrisburg, Arkansas for a 40 lap, $2,000 to win/$400 to start event.
