Dirk Sutton’s door car had the better light in the final but took too much stripe as Scott Offermann took home the Super Pro ¼-mile victory with a .016 light while running a 7.79 on a 7.77 dial. Scott’s victory moves him to first place in Gateway’s Super Pro points and Dirk’s runner-up finish puts him ten points behind in second place.

In Super Pro 1/8-mile competition, there was no doubt that Bob Krekel was on his game and his car was no different. In round four, Bob recorded a .002 package with a perfect light while running a 6.702 on a 6.70 dial. His worst light of the night was a .021 in the first round, and his 1979 Monza ran dead on the number in his last four passes. That consistency made Krekel $ 2,000 richer as he won Gateway’s $ 2,000 Super Pro 1/8th mile race. Runner-up Steve Yost and his 2002 dragster was a strong competitor all day, but Steve cut it too close in the final and went red by -.007.

Corey Wood, last years street points runner-up, has had a rough start to his 2007 season, but he took a huge step in the right direction as he took his ’90 Mustang to victory Saturday night in the Street category. Corey had the better light in the final with a .036 as he ran a 13.024 on a 12.99 dial while Don Allen’s ’84 Cutlass could only cut a .077 light and ran a 12.705 on a 12.68 dial. Allen is no stranger to final rounds, but he has yet to win as he is 0-5 in the finals. David Gamber remains in first place as he has won the previous three events at Gateway (2 Street E.T., 1 King of the Track). Corey jumped to 6th place in points, while Don moves up to 8th.

Dan Smith, the winner of George Howards $100,000 foot brake race in 2006, took his 1979 Chrysler 300 to the winners circle after defeating Mike Vishino in the final. Smith dominated from the start with his .006 light and never looked back as he ran a 9.803 on a 9.74 dial. He also won George Howards $100,000 foot brake race last year. Vishino and his 1974 Plymouth Scamp moves up to 6th place with his runner-up finish while Smith jumps to 3rd place. Ron Hendrixson was the point leader coming into the race but toasted his transmission in time trials and was unable to make it to first round. John Ratulowski takes over the points lead with a semi-final appearance.

Double finalist Chad Isley took down points leader Janie Palm in this must-see final round in which neither competitor had a delay box. Palm took the starting line advantage with a .013 light to Isley’s .030 but went too fast and broke out by .006 and giving the Pro Bike victory to Mr. Isley. Isley was a strong competitor all day as he averaged a .014 light through all five rounds. Palm extends her points lead in pro bike with yet another final round appearance.

Marcus Taylor took his 2006 Suzuki to a hole-shot victory in street bike competition over Chad Isley. Taylor’s .022 light and a 9.538 on a 9.52 dial was good enough to take his first victory this season. Isley ran dead on the number but his .047 wasn’t good enough to take the win. Dusty Katich holds a ten point lead in the standings over Janie Palm.
