Inside Line Promotions - HIGHLANDS, Texas (Oct. 30, 2018) - Channin Tankersley produced arguably his greatest sprint car season in 2018 when he captured his third career ASCS Gulf South Region championship and scored a career-best six victories.

"It was nice because it was pretty laid back and we did our thing and had some great results," he said. "The consistency was really good."

The Old School Racing driver dominated the ASCS Gulf South Region schedule, winning a half dozen races and finishing with nine podiums, including eight in a row, and 10 top fives in 11 races. Tankersley's six triumphs is the most of any driver in an ASCS Gulf South Region season since 2010 according to the ASCS website.

"Our best year we had was five wins and we beat that," he said. "That was our goal was to go in and try hitting that number or beating it. Fortunately we had a solid piece and it worked out."

The final win of the year stands out the most for Tankersley, who led the last 40 laps of a 41-lapper on Oct. 13 at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas.

"That 41-lapper was pretty cool," he said. "That was one of the longer races I've done. I pretty much led from start to finish. There were some really good guys racing that night so it was cool."

That win clinched the title for Tankersley, who has won three of the last five ASCS Gulf South Region championships. He became only the second driver to capture at least three titles.

Tankersley also posted his career-best World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series result during his season opener, which was his first race with the 410ci winged sprint car series since 2009.
