Taking the lead on the opening lap from his outside front row starting position, O'Neal led every lap of the 40 lap affair and was unchallenged with rare exception of when he encountered lapped traffic and Erb was able to close in on him.Erb would follow O'Neal at the drop of the checkers with Babb a close third. Behind the trio were Mars, Melvin, Korte, Hedrick, Drake, Gill and Shirley.

O'Neal was piloting his Mastersbilt Race car with power by Jay Dickens and sponsorship from A-1 Auto Salvage, The Living Room Center, Allstar Performance, O'Neal Wood Products, Well Pict Berries, Hoosier by Smash and Simpson Safety Products.
