Open Motor vs Crate

Even if you have a top of the line stout 355-360 can they run with the crate motor with the 4barrel? just a question im hearing no... Talking B-Mods here

I watched tommie seets jr come from the back of the field with the A mods to the front with a crate and seen jeff Labaube kick their ass one night at I-55 with one! Running a crate against the big motors in A mods and sportsman wouldn't be no different then the b mods. It definitely leaves a team with a Disadvantage running against the open motors imo. B mods should have a crate motor only rule imo that's sealed!

Open motor probably won more at I-55 this year in the bmods. But the last few weeks they added some weight to the open motors and josh Russells crate won. I think they are pretty close as far as top of line motor vs. crate.

I think you mean that they started actually following the ump bmod rules for the open motors. If the rules stay the same as of now, for 2016 open motors will have to be 200 lbs heavier than a crate and no roller rocker arms.

i get the crate thing but i can't support it as its just as crooked of a scheme as politics. They need at least one other manufacturer to be approved.

Mostly personal opinions on what you like. They both win races with that said I had more customers switching to crates than sticking with the open motor.

maybe the other manufacturers won t build a motor the exact cost and specs

I'm sure that's the issue the other engine builders wont or cant produce engine to similar spec and cost to be competitive or they would because they are missing out on the ole mighty $$

We were told by a seemingly reliable source that Ford Racing is working with UMP to develop a crate motor within the specifications and costs of the GM crates, with availability targeted for the 2017 season. It was communicated to us by someone trying to keep us interested in the probability of B-mod having a Ford crate solution one day soon since we run Fords. We haven't confirmed that with any of our contacts at Ford yet, but will.

All things equal a 602 has absolutely zero chance of competing with a reasonably good 2 barrel engine.

The crate engine is much easier to "cheat up" without detection because the track simply has no way to police them so that is certainly used to an advantage.

If in doubt of the cheating... there is always a claim .... or a track can step up and have a NEW Crate Engine and do a swap.. I know our local track claimed our Crate this year to keep the class honest and we bought another crate and won the next 2 nights at that track and ran a strong 2nd at another track with 28 Bmods.... Work on the chassis its not all about motor
