This Saturday, August 25th CMS will be hosting Operation Freedom Fun night. Fans and drivers are encouraged to bring a donation of kid’s related toys, stuffed animals, puzzles, balls, dolls, kids clothing or shoes. Donations will be boxed up and shipped overseas for distribution by military members. The Modifieds, ULMA Late Models, Street Stocks and B- Modifieds will be racing for the checkers this Saturday with only three weeks of racing remaining at the high banks in Warrensburg. Saturday night will also be the final tune-up for the “Mighty” Modifieds before the September 1st, $2,000 to win Modified 40 lap special. (Note: modified points are not awarded for this race). All drivers who have not raced at least twice at CMS in the modified division this year will have to pay an entry fee for the Labor Day special event.

The 'Mighty' Modified title is still in doubt, but 'Smokin' Joe Walker continues to lead a tough battle just ahead of Terry “the Terminator” Schultz in second with a small 37-point lead. Jim Moody is next in line behind the leaders in third fighting to move up. There are only two points-earning nights remaining for the modified drivers and the battle for the championship could go right down to the final night of racing. The chase for the Late Model championship continues with the top three drivers separated by just 53 points. Brett Rollert, the defending track champion, has a slim 27-point lead over Steven Clancy in second with nine-time feature winner Bob King close behind the two leaders in third. Over in the Street Stocks, the chase continues to be for the runner-up position as Brian 'Back in Black' Johnson maintains his commanding lead over Herb Dannar in second and Tammy Korff in third with just 39 points separating Danner and Korff. Scotty Martin, scoring his 12th feature win of the year last week, continues his secure grip with the lead in the B-Modified division. Michael Mullins in second and Brian Ziegler in third place are locked into a race for the runner-up position with just 13 points between them.
