O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Heads to Richmond

LEXINGTON, KY -- Saturday night's O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series event at Bardstown's Bluegrass Speedway fell victim to rain as steady showers throughout the evening forced the cancellation of the race. The event will not be rescheduled at this time.

This Saturday night, June 18th, Richmond Raceway will host the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series for the second time this season with a $3,000 paycheck awaiting the winner. It will be the 12th appearance for the Battle of the Bluegrass Late Models at the James Stinnett and Bobby Reed promoted "Action Track". In the previous eleven races since 2002, Mike Marlar, the 2003 BoB Champion, leads the win list with three wins including last season's "Butterball" Wooldridge Memorial Race. Track record holder Mike Jewell and Mike Hawley each have recorded two wins at Richmond in Battle of the Bluegrass competition. Jesse James Lay, Greg Johnson, Tyrel Todd, and most recently Aaron Hatton, have also entered victory lane at Richmond in O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series action.



A full racing program will be on tap for the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts with Racing Optics Time Trials, VP Fuels Makin' Power Heat Races, B-Mains, and the 40-lap O'Reilly Auto Parts A-Main. 147 different drivers have competed in 2005 with the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series with Dunnville, KY's Whitney McQueary currently leading the series point standings followed by Rookie of the Year Candidate Chris Combs, Michael England, Tim Tungate, and Aaron Hatton. So far, the 2005 season for the BoB Late Models has seen eight different winners in as many races with Rick Combs, Dan Schlieper, Scott James, Shannon Babb, Whitney McQueary, Dennis Erb, Aaron Hatton, and Bryan Barber each finding victory lane.
