LEXINGTON, KY -- The O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts, the nation's most competitive regional racing series in 2005, will kick off its 2006 season with over $120,000 in purse money up for grabs during the 7 events scheduled for the month of April. The 2006 campaign begins with back-to-back shows at the Ponderosa Speedway on April 7th and 8th.

Coming off a season that provided 18 different winners in 20 races, as well as a deadlock between Mike Jewell and Tim Tungate for the Championship Title, the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series barges into 2006 with a 24-race schedule, seven of which are in the month of April. In addition, the series will also sanction the first ever Kentucky Speedweek presented by Sunoco, May 29th to June 2nd.

The 2006 season kicks off with two complete shows at the Larry Yantz promoted Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY on April 7th and 8th. On Friday, April 7th, the 3rd Annual Spring 40 pays $3000 to the winner while on Saturday, April 8th, the inaugural Ponderosa 50 pays a cool $5000 for first place. Each night will feature a complete program for the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series with Racing Optics Time Trials, Heats, B-Mains, and an A-Main.

After Ponderosa, the series travels north on I-75 to the King Family's Florence Speedway on April 14th and April 15th. Once again, two complete shows for the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts will find the winner cashing a $3000 paycheck for Friday, April 14th's Spring 50 Tune-Up and then a $5000 top prize for Saturday, April 15th's Spring 50.

The third weekend of April, the series makes its first stop of the season to the Tim Keithley promoted Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN for the highly-anticipated 23rd Annual Hoosier Dirt Classic paying $3000 to win on April 22nd.

The O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series closes out the month of April with a double header weekend on April 28th at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY and April 29th at the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY. Richmond's Friday night special pays $3000 to win while the 9th Annual Spring Sizzler at Bluegrass Speedway will also pay $3000 to win.
