MADISON, Ill. (June 17) – Several of the top “Outlaw” Pro-Mod racers in the
Midwest and South are expected to be at Gateway this Friday and Saturday night for a
special two-night show sponsored by George Weber Chevrolet.

The Outlaw Pro Mod card will be intertwined with the regular Friday and Saturday
Gateway E.T. Bracket Racing Series schedule. They will race for $1,500 to win.

These are not the Pro Modified cars that will be competing at Gateway the following
weekend during the AMS Staff Leasing Pro Modified Challenge that will be part of the
Sears Craftsman NHRA Nationals.

However, they are exotic machines, some of them nitro-methane powered, that will cover
the 1/8-mile in about four seconds. “There are some ghastly-quick cars that will be
coming to Gateway this weekend,” Gateway Drag Racing Manager Dale Sandage said.

The card will start Friday. The Outlaw Pro-Mods will make two qualifying passes, while
the regular card of Pro and Street Bike, High School, Junior Dragster and Trophy class
eliminations are run. Gates open at 4 p.m., with time trials starting at 6 p.m. and
eliminations at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Outlaw Pro-Mods will make two qualifying passes and then run through
a full 16-car elimination. That show is in addition to the regular card of Super Pro, Pro
and Street Class racing and the 1/8-Mile Open Class Money Race. Gates open at 1:30
p.m. with time trials at 3:30 p.m. and eliminations at 6:30 p.m.

Adult spectator/crew admission is still just $8 for this weekend double feature, with
children 12-under free with a paid adult.
