Over $35,000 Up For Grabs As the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass Heads to Thunder Ridge

Over $35,000 in prize money will be up for grabs as the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Presented by Arizona Sport Shirts visits the Thunder Ridge Raceway in Prestonsburg, KY for a doubleheader of racing action this Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31. There will be a complete show each day for Kentucky's Premier Dirt Late Model Sanctioning Body with Racing Optics Time Trials each evening, followed by heat races, AFCO Racing Products B-Mains and a 30 lap $3000 to win main event on Friday evening and a 40 lap $5000 to win main event on Saturday evening. The 2003 edition of "Spring Thunder at the Ridge" will see the third ever visit by the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass Series. In 2002 the series made its debut at Thunder Ridge with Jackie Boggs and 2002 BoB Series Champion, Eddie Carrier Jr coming home with the big bucks last Labor Day weekend.

Currently Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN leads the Battle of the Bluegrass point standings coming off of the biggest win of his career capturing the Ralph Latham Memorial Race last Saturday Night at the Florence Speedway in Union, KY. There have been five different drivers win BoB races this season in five races. James currently leads leading R&P Industrial Chimney Rookie of the Year candidate Mike Marlar by 90 points in the season long points chase. Jesse James Lay of Walton, KY sits third in points followed by Tyrel Todd of Eubank, KY and Darrell Lanigan of Union, KY.

There is a close battle for positions 6-10 in points with Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, KY leading the way for the second 10 drivers with Mike Jewell of Scottsburg, IN, Jim Curry of Norman, Michael Chilton of Harrodsburg, KY and Timmy Yeager of Harrodsburg, KY completing the top ten at the present time.

Marlar leads the way in the R&P Industrial Chimney Rookie of the Year Points Chase with Michael Chilton, Joey Kramer, Larry Martin Jr., Chris Wilson, Steven Ashby, Jeff Napper, Carnell Parker III and John Whitney trailing after five events.

Previous STARS Battle of the Bluegrass Event winners in 2003 include Don O'Neal, Johnny Wheeler, Mike Marlar, Darrell Lanigan and Scott James. A total of 90 different drivers have raced with BoB tour so far in 2003.
