Paducah International Raceway will have Legends of PIR Friday August 21

Paducah International Raceway is gearing up for Legends of PIR this coming Friday night. Bringing back some of the racers who raced at the track in the 70's and 80's. Jerry English, Jeff Cone, Daryl Cathey, Jim Defew, Phil Gregory and Carmell Richardson to name a few will be on hand for autographs and pictures at 5:30pm in the pavilion area. Classes running this week will be the UMP Late Models, Modifieds, Pro Late Models, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinder Warriors and the Kentucky Vintage Association. Grandstands open at 5:00pm. racing action will start at 7:00pm.

The points battle is heating up in many of the divisions here at PIR. The UMP Late Model class sees Butler IL. driver Kevin Cole leading the way over Paducah’s own Jeff Walston by a mere 34 points. The UMP Modifieds has Paducah's Todd Miller on top of the points chase with a commanding 122 point lead of Hazel KY's Justin Houston. Tait Davenport from Paducah is on the point with Ledbetter's Adam Ray by just 56 points in the UMP Pro Late Model Division. Stacy Tretter from Princeton Indiana leads Mayfield Ky. resident J R Mason by 16 points in the UMP Street Stock Division. 4 Cylinder Warrior class sees Paducah's Jake Mayo sitting on top of the Warrior class with Calvert City's Hunter Lyles only 6 points behind Mayo. The racing action will be fast and furious this coming Friday night as the points battles are tightening up.
