Quincy Raceways has suffered through a very tough time early this race season with way too much rain and then mechanical problems but all that was put aside as the Memorial Sunday Sullivan Auctioneers and Budweiser/Rinella Distributing Night at the Races had a smooth fast track with two, three and even four wide racing all night..

Veterans Ron Elbe and Lonnie Bailey brought the Budweiser IMCA Late Model field to the green flag of the 30 lap main event and it was Elbe taking the lead over Bailey for the first three laps but Bailey powered by on the outside of turn four on the fourth circuit to take the lead for the next ten laps. Jason Perry worked his way to Bailey’s tail from his third row starting spot and took over the lead on the fourteenth lap. Perry then held of a hard charging Denny Woodworth until the checkered flag fell. Perry took his first points feature win of the season with Woodworth settling for a close second followed by Lonnie Bailey in third, Keith Pratt in fourth and Justin Reed in fifth. Perry and Reed were the heat race winners with Justin Reed claiming the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Tony Dunker and Jared Schlipman sat on the front row of the Miller Lite UMP Modified feature event but three first lap caution flags slowed the start of the event. Dunker would take the early lead after a single file start got the event under the green flag with Schlipman nipping at his heals. Steven DeLonjay took over second on lap seven and kept the pressure on Dunker through a couple more caution periods until Schlipman came charging back into contention on lap eighteen. Schlipman used the high groove to blast around Dunker on the nineteenth circuit and pulled to a slight advantage over Dunker at the checkered flag on lap twenty five. This feature win made it two in a row for Schlipman followed by Dunker in second, DeLonjay in third, Justin Reed in fourth and Ryan Meyer in fifth. Dunker, DeLonjay and Robbie Reed were the heat race winners with Dunker taking the win in the Advance Trading Trophy Dash.

Only eight Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Cars signed in to do battle and that number was down to seven as the heat race came to the grid as Kevin Tomlinson lost a transmission in hot laps and was unable to race. The small field made up for what it lacked in numbers as the racing was fast and furious in the twenty lap main event. Aaron Brocksieck took the early lead and held on for five laps as the action behind him heated up as Steve Steinkuhler, Jerry Jansen and Able Huls battled three wide for the second spot. Huls got the advantage on Steinkuhler and Jansen on lap three and turned up the pressure on Brocksieck until slipping past for the lead on lap sex. Huls then held off Jansen and Terry Houston the rest of the distance to take the win followed by Houston in second, Steinkuhler in third, Jansen in fourth and Brocksieck in fifth. Brocksieck took the heat race win.

The Tim’s Machine Shop Hobby Stock feature event was a wild and wooly affair as several drivers decided to play way too rough throughout the twenty lapper. Tanner Klingele came out of the carnage with his second feature win a row to celebrate with his teenage crew and the Budweiser Girls in victory lane. Jim Powell scored the second spot followed by Brian Hoener in third, Adam Scott in fourth and Justin Bartz in fifth. Jake Powers and Nathan Hayes were the heat race winners.

The O’Reilly Midwest All Star Sprints main event was a one man show as Jimmy Hurley dominated the thirty lap main event by leading every lap of the thirty lap distance. A.J. Bruns tried in vain to catch Hurley but had to settle for the second spot followed by Jarrod Hull third, Jimmy Moughan in fourth and Jeremy Standridge in fifth. Kody Kinser and Bruns were the heat race winners.
