I am afraid that picture is looking like the norm down here (16 miles south of Union City, TN) where I live. Paducah is looking at the worst flood since 1937. Lake county in Tennessee, is looking at the worst flood in documented history. The whole town of Tiptonville is being evacuated. I live approx. 1/2 mile from the Obion river, and I have a nice view of it right now. Lots of people being affected by this. What is the river looking like up that way?

i am hearing that the river wont crest till late next week......dont look good for the big show next week either.... anyone hear anything different?

I think you can forget about the Lucas Oil race for next week. There is no way the waters will recede in time to clean up the mess it will inevitably leave behind. I would say PIR is looking at a month or more until it will be ready to race.

I feel for the people of that area. It's not just the track that's flooded. Some people are probably losing just about everything in this deal. It's a sad situation for a lot of people and businesses.

I love the way some people make things that are bad look even worse. Just got back from TiptonvilleTenn.(Reelfoot lake). No they DID NOT evacuate the town!! Just the lowest part of town that no one needs to be and has been pumped out since. And yes the lake is very high!!

I raced the ATV there back in 03 or 04 I drove down there in a driving rain stayed at the track. When I woke up that is what the infield looked like. The sound of the pumps woke me up by that night the track was race ready (and blinding dust) in hot laps. The track crew down there will do anything & everything to put a show on. I was amazed that we could run and the infield was part of the track as well.

Sorry, for making this out to be worse than what it is. The person that told me the information that I stated lives in Tiptonville (and has lived there his entire life) and he has been forced to evacuate and he does not live in the lower section of Tiptonville. So when he told me on Tuesday that they were going to evacuate the town, I believed him. As far as the worst ever, the worst ever flood for Tiptonville was in 1937 at 47 feet. As of right now the expected crest of 50 feet is predicted for next week. Again, sorry for posting something that obviously was erroneous information.

Wow..big flood at PIR... NOTE: although it says Copyright 2006, it is a picture from this week.

Wow...what waterway is near there that's causing it to flood? I remember seeing a lake near the back end of the parking lot.

Now It's my turn to apologize to Hoosierdaddy just found out that things have gotten a lot worse in his area. Its gotton so bad that the resorts at reelfoot lake are even canceling reservations. Hope things get better quickley!!!
