PHOTOBILLY photos -

Wanted to thank everyone who came out to the races this weekend and visiting us at the Photobilly Memorial Table. Bummer that Quincy got rained out. But we will be there next Sunday. Working on my schedule for next weekend, please check back in a day or so. Race fans, drivers and families are so generous. We all enjoyed the stories you had to tell. Thanks for being so understanding, as I am still trying to get everything in order. I think I have a new filing system. Will be working hard this week on that. IF YOU ORDERED, PICKED UP, or CONTACTED ME ABOUT PHOTOS, and HAVE ALREADY PICKED THEM UP, PLEASE COME SEE ME AGAIN OR CONTACT ME AGAIN - I HAVE MANY MORE PHOTOS I FOUND. And alot are of people that have already picked up pics. Special Thanks to the race track owners, promotors, announcers and staffing, without you I wouldnt have been able to pull this off. And last but not least, a heart felt Thanks to Betty and Charlie Schultz and Danielle Haffer for trusting Mitch and I in handling this. We love you guys.

Thanks Amanda for having my Jimmy's photos in a separate bag for me. Folks, this gal is wonderful! If you ask, she will pull your photos out and have them for you separately. Just give her your driver's name and car number and she and her helpers will do their best to have your photos for you to look at. Of course, you can look through the thousands of pics that Billy had saved over the years. I was astounded at the number of photos they had at Belleville on Friday night and then they told me that this wasn't all of them yet! Thanks so much for all your work!!!

I have uploaded Billy's last race photos from his camera to his smugmug account. "Oskaloosa" I know there has been lots of requests for his "LAST" photo taken. It is uploaded also, and ready for ordering. How many people would be interested in me printing it out and purchasing it for a minimum donation of $10, for an 8x10. All proceeds go to his family. Also would you like a raw photo, or should I have words on the photo... Please leave feedback.

Prayers and cards. I just got word that Billy's father had a stroke shortly after the passing of his son. He is recovering, but will be a long road. I will copy the note from Billy's Aunt below. Also here is the mailing address for Charles "Sonny" Haffer, please lets send him well wishes. If a driver or family of driver, include your car number. Thanks in advance.

Charles ( Sonny ) Haffer
301 North Spring Apt K-2

"I called Bonnie and Sonny and got an update on him, his blood pressure is still pretty high but some better. And he is taking medicine to help him sleep at night, still has the vision issue with the one eye but Dr said that would take time if it returns at all. Bonnie is trying to keep him away from the cemetery as much as she can.... he's driving himself insane visiting Billy's grave. He said he had no idea how much and how many people loved Billy.... the racing world family has came out in droves to show support to the family. Please keep Sonny in your prayers."

I believe I have contacted everyone who has contacted me, please check your messages. If any further questions, please contact me. Hopefully the rain holds so I can see everyone at the races this weekend. I will be at Belleville Friday and Quincy Sunday. I will be at the Memorial Table before and during the races.

  • "Fans and drivers please come out to support this event so that it becomes an annual event. Billy Haffer was not just a photographer for over 20 years in the St. Louis area, he was a huge promoter of dirt racing in the midwest. He traveled thousands of miles each year to many different tracks and was a constant companion, race fan, photographer and promoter. Unfortunately his passion and dedicatio... ...n to catch every event he could would lead to his death by a sleepy truck driver and a loaded 18 wheeler. PhotoBilly, as he was known by, loved the World of Outlaws (both series) and would be so delighted to know this event is being run in his honor. To me this is a small thank you for his many years of service to the sport of dirt track racing. I wish I had written down every story he ever told me because it would certainly be worth sharing now.

Thanks to Donnie Hoener and all who helped make this happen. The Haffer family is so proud and thankful for all the sacrafices being made by fans and drivers to begin something huge. Billy made these same sacrafices many times each week to give fans and drivers a close up view of their favorites drivers. He had many close calls along the way and captured at least a million images with his camera over the years. Many of his photos were also published in midwest racing magazines but it was not fame or fortune he was after. He always took a lot of pride in being at the race when history was made. He often spoke of the thrills of seeing history made in person. Ironically he can't be here for this historic event, but we are so thankful we will all be able to see this awesome event! Thanks again to all the fans and drivers making plans to be in Belleville on Sept. 14! God bless you all!!"

~ Rod Haffer and the entire Haffer family

Wanted to share this from Rod Haffer from stlracing forums. Thanks
