Photobilly Poem From Rod Haffers Facebook

[h=5]Sometimes my phone goes off,
and I wish it were you,
we used to chat day and night,
We didn't have a clue;

That our friendship was about to end,
That your life would be cut so short,
Together we watched so many races,
and loved all the same sports;

Though little league we battled together,
and wiffle ball we played for hours,
Now I look out my windows each day,
and see the wilting flowers;

I guess they were already there all along,
but I didn't notice the other days,
The world looks so different now,
Now that my world is full of haze;

The fall season is upon us here,
and I miss you more each day,
Our Lord has called you to be with Him,
but here I wished you could stay;

There isn't one day that goes by now,
that my heart doesn't ache inside,
We shared so much of our lives together,
It was such an awesome ride;

The cell phone is much quieter now,
and my world has been turned upside down,
My laughs and smiles are fewer these days,
Seems all I do is frown;

Each time my phone buzzes,
I want to see your name,
but I look and see it's not you,
Nothing now is the same;

The racers called you Photobilly,
I gave that name to my best friend,
but I never knew you would be famous,
and your life was about to end;

It's been years since we sat at the races together,
because you worked so hard inside the track,
and I remember the days at St. Charles Speedway,
and I would love to have those back;

We never know the challenges in front of us,
only the memories we have left behind,
everyone called you Photobilly,
but to me you were always mine;

Thank you for making me laugh,
This was the first time you made me cry,
I miss you so much cousin Billy,
I wasn't ready to say goodbye.
