Wow! Did he hit something in the middle to break the frame or was it from an impact If it was from an impact id say the frame must have been cracked or something maybe Ive never seen one split like that personally and glad he is ok
 
We were at the race, he flipped just before going into turn 3, the car flipped up onto the lower backstretch wall and then slammed into the transition to the taller wall around the corner. The only think protecting the wall transition was a high flotation Ag tire. Most horrific crash I've seen as well as the first time any of the people we go to the races with (many of whom have been involved in dirt track racing for a couple decades) have ever seen. His car slammed into the wall transition and split in half in a shower of sparks. It literally took my breath away. He went from wide open down the backstretch to slamming into the wall transition with very little change in speed. A VERY scary crash, had the impact been a foot or so closer to the cockpit, it would have been a much more tragic crash.
