Police Chopper @ I-55

Racerfan X

The Thread Killer
Was anybody else kind of freaked out about the police chopper doing stunt crap over populated grandstands? What the hell was that about!

The chopper flew in a lady and one of the kids that the police drove around in the police cars after hot laps. I don't know the ladies name but she owns 34 Shop-n-Save stores, and may have had a hand in sponcering the show last night. As for the chopper flying over the Grand Stands, I am shure the pilot knows what he is doing, if you want to worry, think about all the semi-trucks that go by the track. What will happen when a truck comes off the Interstate and into the Grand Stands?

I thought is was pretty cool...like a mini airshow!!!

I was more worried about the duck that flew over. I didn't want to get crapped on. :p

People worry too much...

I'm sure Allen Barklage was a great chopper pilot too. There is no sense in low level fly-bies or doing the stunts he was doing with people everywhere under him. This is a police chopper for goodness sakes!

Racerfan X, have you ever been to an airshow?

I would be more worried about a race car coming into the stands before a helicopter crash.

By the way, great racing lastnight!!!

you got that right,jimmy.
got to admit that i do my fair share of complaining also though.
wasnt there but i would have loved to see the chopper deal.
isnt the ladies name gebhardt or something like that?

Yes. I have been to numerous air shows. And I also except that risk when I do. I also work for a major airplane manufacturer here in ST.Louis. Maybe thats why it bothered me so much because I understand the multitued of things that can go wrong with a chopper. And I do except the risk of getting hurt or killed by flying debris, wheels or God forbid a racecar. But I did not go to get a haircut at the neck by some hotshot police pilot.

Well then you know not to go next time.....because there may be a chopper overhead in the future......god for bid just stay home and save us all from hearing such a childish piss ant post.:rolleyes:I bet you wouldn't piss about it if that chopper was over your house saving your family.

I thought the goose that flew over the grandsstands in turn 3 after hotlaps was flying way to low.LOL

Great post, Wahoo! :D I heard TTG say the copter was looking for Ray Walsh, but I thought they were after Jimmy. You know, where is Jimmy? ;)

Maybe the goose had a pit pass and was allowed to fly that low?

Boy, your anger management classes aren't going so well are they? There is nothing wrong with them dropping people off or picking people up in the chopper. It was him showing off. Remember, that chopper was purchased with tax dollars from you and me. It is taking extra risk when he doesn't need to.

I did notice Walsh and Jimmy running in and out of different trailers when they flew over, sweating quite profusly.

Also noticed Charles behaving and sitting in the stands by himself for a while until a couple of young ladies with beverages in their hands walk by then he suddenly disappeared. Next time you shoud share. I couldn't climb down from the tower fast enough!

You got into a car to get to the track. There's a risk there. You sat at a track with cars going by at more than 100mph. There's plenty of risk there. A helicopter did some stunts over the stands. Sure, there's risk. But if you go around always worrying about the risks, you'll never enjoy life.
