Ponderosa & Richmond up next for STARS Battle of the Bluegrass

After a successful opening race for the 2003 season this past Saturday Night at the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts will pay a visit to the Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY this Friday Night, May 2 and then head over to the "Action Track" the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY on Saturday Night, May 3. Both events will feature a complete show the for BoB Late Models with Racing Optics Time Trials, Heat Races, AFCO Racing Products B-Mains and a $3000 to win PBM Performance Products Feature Event each night. The total purse for the two nights of racing will approach $30,000.

It will be the first ever sanctioned race at Ponderosa for the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass as new race promoter Johnny Bradshaw welcomes Kentucky's Premier Dirt Late Model Sanctioning Body to the 3/8ths mile oval. Bradshaw has almost completely renovated the 30 year old facility with a new concrete wall around the race track, improved lighting, new pit areas and remodeled restrooms and with other improvements in the works the race at "The Pond" is setting up as a dandy event. It will be the first of four visits to the well known race track for the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass drivers. Pit Gates will open at 4 pm with spectator gates opening at 5 pm. Hot laps are scheduled to get underway at 7 pm with racing at 8 pm. Directions to Ponderosa Speedway are as follows: 3 miles south of Danville, KY, go west to Hwy 300 at the light then one mile south on Highway 37, 1.5 miles to the sign at the track entrance. On Saturday Night it will be the fourth ever visit by the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass to the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY. In 2002 the series paid three visits to the James Stinnett and Robert Reed promoted facility with Jesse James Lay of Walton, KY winning in the inaugural visit last May and Mike Hawley of Paint Lick, KY would sweep the last two trips there last year.
