(MARION, IL) Kevin Poole of Paducah, KY came home the winner in an action-filled feature event on Sunday, May 22 at Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, IL, claiming the $1200 winner’s check and tying “Gentleman” Joe Morris of Galatia, IL for the Fastrak Midwest Region Championship lead. Morris led early while Poole battled for second with Scott Hutchinson of Johnston City, IL, both of them closing on Morris as Morris carved his way through traffic. Poole found a fast groove around the high side with six to go to drop Hutchinson into third place, then used the same line to slip past Morris two laps later. Morris dove low to reclaim the lead, but Poole was too fast on the outside and held on for the win.

“I think the track was really good,” said a delighted Poole after the win. “It rubbered up and I found it before Joe did.” The win puts Poole and Morris level in the Midwest Region Championship with 49 points each while Hutchinson trails by three points with 13 events remaining. 2004 Mount Vernon Steel Block LM Champion Chuck Still of Benton, IL sits in fourth with 43 points; one point in front of Terry James of Winfield, MO.

The next round of the Midwest Region Championship is Saturday, May 28 at Mount Vernon Raceway in Mount Vernon, IL. For Midwest Region information, contact Regional Director Sean Franklin at 618-922-2531.
