Posbility of a new track in southern IL

was asked to post this by Kenny Lomax former owner of K&L raceway which now is I57/I64 raceway. Kenny is looking at the posibility of leasing the wayne county speedway located in wayne city Illinois if he takes the least track will be extended in to a 1/5th mile high banked oval he is looking at runing the 4cyl cars street stocks min sprints and posibily mods or crate cars he is wanting some input on to which classes u would like to see there and which night would be good 4 u he is l looking at fridays with a later starting time alowing time 4 the ones that dont get off work early to be able to make it Kenny is wanting to try to get racing back to where it is fun and afordable some ideals he had are cheaper pit passes lowere general admison with a family package so a family can come watch the races with out spending there paycheck . Kenny has good track prep ideals and has always had a nice track back when he ran his own so if u dont care let us know as to what u would like to see and what your freinds would like to see we should know 4 sure by the weekend if he has the track if so work will start and plan on being open by mid may
 
Crates

Friday night might no work for us....I would vote Crates....how far from Mt. Vernon is Wayne City....Would be interested in racing there if Sat. or Sunday and i57/i64 does not open........jcup
 
Think they should race on Sundays!

Run Crates, Mods, Streetstock, Hornets.


They could not run on Saturdays Because

Flora - Clay county Speedway
Mt. Vernon Raceway

Are to close to gether to draw a good car count.

And most racers around here go to Granite city on Friday nights!
 
friday pri runs and tricity and saturday claycounty so sunday would be better and mt vernon runs saturday and we would love to run the crate car there on sunday
 
sat isnt an option he said because of the other tracks around that already run on sat and he dont want to step on any ones toes

if he wants to make it he better forget about pi$$in people off and just go for it I support Rick but we still dont have an opening night announced ???
 
if he leases that track it would be one of the smoothest tracks in that area i remember when he had mt vernon that track was bad fast

Would this happen this year? WCS already has a schedule out and is running micros most every friday and karts on 5 saturdays.
 
yes as far as i know it will happen this year they talked about the karts scheduel and kenny said he would still run what they have on the schedule along with some other classes

so its Sunday afternoon?? that sounds like its already decided what classes and how soon we are all gonna be in points battles soon at other tracks?
 
How about Lomax taking over Clay County Speedway? Now how great would that be Good track just need someone that knows how to run it.

or even Mt Vernon as it appears like Rick may have lost a little fire to promote ? I know he is still passinote about racing however owning,racing and promoting does take its toll.
 
Ken Lomax sure would be a sight for sore eyes for racers in our area. He knows how to promote a track and prep one as well. He would be a plus at Wayne City, Mt.Vernon or even Clay County. Let's hope this works out.
 
no tom sundays not for sure thats y he is asking what every one would want same with classes he is just looking for ideals as to what every one would want right now

How about making it a 1/2 and asphalt????? you at forward has seen my car alot of street stocks could make the change and so could the mods. along with the 4cyl could work big in this area.

if ya dont wanna race Sunday and you dont wanna sstep on anybodys toes when would ya race ??? Belleville or PIR . tri-city Friday night Sat is Mt Vernon/Clay County?Pevely ?? When ??
