Pride in your Ride

A man does what he must - in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressure - and that is the basis of all morality.
JFK

He that is proud eats up himself. Pride is his own glass, his own trumpet, his own chronicle; and whatever praises itself but in the deed, devours the deed in the praise.

William Shakespeare:p

here's one

"That's a dern good lookin an a dern good runnin automobile. now dadgummit try to keep it that way for once." - kRaZiE's DAD :D

sorry, just had to throw that in there.

Let me get this right

He that is proud eats up himself. Pride is his own glass, his own trumpet, his own chronicle; and whatever praises itself but in the deed, devours the deed in the praise.

William Shakespeare:p
DirtSurfer, does this mean that you are not proud for your contribution to society, or your racecar, you do have a racecar don`t you?

Yes, I do have a race car. And yes, I take pride in most everything I do....I even took pride in messing' with you, Ed.

However, I don't need to coerce my feeling of accomplishment from others. I take pride in knowing that I did the best I could do with the resources available at the time.

If you look into that quote a little further, you will see it for it's meaning. Not the meaning you thought it implied. It was actually a positive and reinforcing post geared toward your subject "Take pride in your ride".

Sorry I figured that of all people, YOU would get it.... It basically says that a deed done without pride cannot be a proud accomplishment. And also that pride will consume an individual.

By the way, nice ride. I wouldn't want the upkeep of that pretty paint...but it looks good.

i cant belive this guy is still crying because he didnt win the fredrock carshow
last saterday GET OVER IT

apology

DirtSufer, I did take it the wrong way, Please accept my apology. We did nothing to the car that anyone else can`t do, we are not any better, not any faster, and not as fast as many cars out there but we try. We are new to this game and need good advice from people that race, if we are told to try something different we try it in order to be better and most of the time it works.
Our major sponser is an auto paint co. We are required to attend two car shows each season, when we don`t place up toward the top the company will want to know why. All I asked was how to make the car better than it is so we can work on those areas in able to do better next time. There were several cars there, we did not feel that we were better than the other cars or anyone, they were very good looking cars. Only the judges know what was wrong with ours, we can`t fix problems if we don`t know what to fix, I am sure you read the whats wrong post, it did not help us to identify the problems.
I think over all this fiasco it will help the attendance, which I hope will translate to better payouts. Again my apology.

Holy crap, you people get deep.....

It was meant as a joke among us...Mun was a member of the school board while I was in school. He also served as a substitute teacher in some of my classes from time to time. However, he didn't realize who the face was behind my post above. Had he recognized me, he would've known that I was just messing with him.

To Mun: I apologize as well. Now you'll know who I am in the future, so you can just laugh along with me and pay more attention to the intent of the post, LOL.

As far as the car goes, I think you guys did well. Dupont should not be unhappy with the paint and presentation of your car. They know paint, send them a picture....they will appreciate your ride. Obviously the judges at that show were more tuned in to a simple scheme, or too a more "ratrod simple" paint job. Maybe they looked at it like I did above, alot of paint to keep up with each week. I prefer a simple, easy to read layout. By easy to read, I mean a 50/50 deal. 50 feet away at 50 miles per hour it shows up good. I someone has to try too hard to read the side of your car (on track), they'll never know what it says...

Good luck to you and Derek this year....

venting anger

DirtSufer, I did not know it was a former sutdent, I was hard to get along we me after the fiasco, just looking to pick a fight, Venting-Anger. Sorry, I should have picked up on that. Time heals all wounds, so I have not been on the web for several days and ready to race if we can keep from breaking. Dupont Hot Hues custom, hot-rods and classic paint don`t care how the car runs, just make their product look presentable to the public.

Venting Anger

DirtSufer, I should have known, after the mess of all that went on I was just looking for a fight, venting-anger. Time heals all wounds, so I have been away from the web, now ready to race if we can keep from breaking. Dupont Hot Hues Hotrod, custom and classic car paint don`t care how the car preforms on the track just as long as we present their product in a acceptable manner. I see that that you have a very well rounded education, I hope I had a little to do with that. Mun

(I did not know the first post went through)
