After sportsman feature Saturday at pevely we were told to pull the gear out for tech inspection. Slight pain? Yes. But MAN am I glad to see it. The cheating that's been going on in this class in years past has now been seen by all. Several cars have been disqualified due to being illegal. Idk if anyone got caught last night but I for one am really glad to see it. Thank you Allied and keep it up!!!

No one was found illegal this past Saturday.. But they have DQ'd a couple earlier this year.

Too little too late, where were they when the class was booming? People already got tired of being legal vs all the cheaters that don't get teched, hence why there's only enough left for one track to host them.

EXACTLY!!!

I've always thought it was stupid for a sanctioning body to create a rule that they are either unwilling or unable to check.

When rules like Allied has adopted, it is an open invitation for unscrupulous racers, with resources to "hide" their modifications to gain an advantage.

And to rationalize that choosing to engage in these practices simply because everyone else is doing it too is a complete disenguious cop out.

Remember this, even if you don't get caught when you take that checker, you know you cheated and that victory is hollow.

The answer IMHO is to simply eliminate very restrictive rules, in favor of basic visual component rules and allow innovation to become the motherhood of invention, not just finding the best cheater engine builder and throw money at him.

This is exactly why the crate classes have died on the vine.

Wow for two classes that are "dieing out" they've had some pretty good turnouts even this early in the year. Sportsman class at pevely has had some of the highest numbers this year and crates at t.c. aren't doing bad either. Im glad to see they're now taking the necessary steps to tech..and yes ive been asked by Allied to change a few things on my car and have complied. Props to Allied. This thread started out as a positive message for allied lets not turn it into something else. Especially if you don't even race anymore.

It is good to see that the tech'ing is being done so that everyone is on the same playing field.
By the way.... is your transponder in for hot laps????? LOL

Now if someone could do something about the outlandish costs to be able to keep more guys racing.

Uhh, I do still race, though I'm not driving right now. You didn't address any of the obvious points that I've made, so I'm going to assume my statements are correct.

I'm not slamming Allied per see. Rather, the concept of rules that are silly in the first place. I'd love to race at I55, bit won't due to the fact that I will not race where I'm not legal. I'd love to see how my extremely "budget minded" build would stack up against those extremely expensive machines I watched last sat. Night.

Remember this is supposed to be a budget class, as evidence by the winning payout. You want to spend 20k + on your ride logically you should be racing for more payout.

Any time you restrict things like cubic inches, no porting, require certain casting intakes and heads, your not making the racing cheaper, your making it more expensive to be competitive. Things like acid porting are expensive for a reason.

I was very pleased to see MMPS announce multiple rule packages could race as long as your car complied with one set of rules. Moon was prepared to look at the comparison racing and determine where things need tweaking.

I've had more than one whom has built a car that is allied legal agree with me on my points.

I know several other cars that would race at Pevely if the engine rules weren't like IROC rules.

$20k????

I have a sportsman for sale as a complete roller with spares and a drum of fuel for $3500. Buy a crate engine and carb for $4k and you have a car that won the feature a couple weeks ago.

Allied is trying to make it more affordable but racers are their own worst enemy. They have teched and teched over the years and caught a lot of guys cheating.

Would you sell your car with engine (that won two weeks ago) for the same prices you just quoted? Bet not.

I would but it's not mine to sell.

Why would you want a used motor at the same price as a brand new one.

Or are you insinuating something else?

er, post: 850634, member: 14945"]Would you sell your car with engine (that won two weeks ago) for the same prices you just quoted? Bet not.[/QUOTE] Daves car and that engine have been for sale basically for that price for a year now i believe..or you could have the two time national champion drive his car off the track and onto your trailer with a ton of spares for 9k! (Probably right after a feature win)

Who ever has the name theplummer please put your real name on your post..

If your talking about my motor you have no idea what I paid and its not as high dollar like you think it is... but if you are interested in one.. give steve a call at SCP... they build great motors on a budget..

its amazing to me I win a race that took me 5 years to get...and people automatically want to cry foul... its called doing your homework and having the right people helping you out...

maybe if everyone would work on there shit boxes more like we do and quit worrying about what everyone else is doing they would be just as fast...

sorry about the rant... matt brucato....

No I will not put my name on this website for several reasons. 1 this is the World Wide Web for goodness sakes. 2 some on this website have a habit of posting personal info about someone they take a dislike to (see the latest MMSP thread to verify). 3 anyone whom has seen my logo on my car (for the last 10+ years) knows exactly who I am. 4 my handle is used on numerous websites throuout the web and I do want to maintain a little privacy at those sites also.

I have nothing to hide in fact I was standing right next to the car that had the rear end teched Saturday. I spoke to several of your team members and was made the same offer there to buy the roller listed above.

I've made no claims nor accused anyone of anything, have I. Dave 34 made the statement that the same car could be had for $3500 for the roller, $4000 for a crate sbc, and a carb. One that won a couple of weeks ago.

My only question is, if that's all it takes to buy a winning car, why not sell the engine that won, in the car for the money quoted to me. After all, it is a "used" engine. Why wouldn't one want to sell it for the same money as a brand new one?

For the record, I'm not singling anyone out for anything. If you go read my first post it was directed at sanctioning bodies having rules that they cannot logically tech, therefore, there's too much room to "fudge" to be competitive. Not accusing any one person of anything.

You claim not to have as much in your motor as I think, yet you didn't put a number to what you do have invested, not that I've ever asked. Nor will I.

I'll tell you that I'd love to see how my car stacks up against the front runners at Pevely, especially with the VERY restrictive engine rules that Allied has. And I'm not afraid to admit that I'm packing another 108 cubic inches over legal, as well as running a holley 850 double pumper, making well over 600 hp. I'd bet dollars to donuts that the front runners would have more engine than I do, and that seems odd given the rules laid out by allied. Especially with a 500 holley rule.

But sadly, the world will never know, unless more logical, economical rules package is adopted.

Maybe someday we could meet and "run what you brung" ;)

Hahaha. If you think the front runners at pevely in a sportsman have 600+ hp you have to be the dumbest person in racing.

I've already told you why I wouldn't sell the motor in my car. It's not my motor, it's a loaner crate motor that has all the ump and Allied seals (rust covered and everything from it sitting for a year). If you wanted to buy it for $4k and are serious I will talk to the owners. It would be worth it to make you look even worse and for them to get a new motor.

And know this, if you showed up for a run what ya brung and got beat by the 34 you would be getting beat by a 350hp 602 crate engine. Maybe you should focus on handling and/or your driver instead of getting the most HP.
