Qualify and cone race

Does anyone else think it would be neat to not run heat races one night and qualify all the cars in every class and just run features but double the laps, and then have it be a cone race like on madhouse? Could be cool

That is a good thought, but unlike the track they run on Madhouse most of the tracks around here have a decent highside so there would probably be a bunch of takers on the top. Wouldn't hurt to give it a shot though

A cone race is where when the caution comes out and they line people up they put a cone in the middle and you choose a lane. If the top 9 pick the inside lane the 10th place car could restart side by side with the leader. I have seen some one lane tracks before and the fans might like it

i've always been a fan of the Delaware Double File. I just think that when you do it, you give them one shot at completing another lap. If they fail to complete a lap, go single file.

I like to one shot double file restart idea. I think the cone race would be cool and make for some interesting racing.

yeah i have done delaware double wide restarts, in oklahoma they call them texas restarts. that might be ok at a place like pevely but could get ugly at belleville. sometimes they are good, sometimes really bad.

I just think a cone race would be a change of pace and neat for the fans. If you let every car in each class qualify and then if you had too many cars, like 25, lock in the top 14 qualifiers and have a 11 car semi that takes 4 to the feature. and then run a 30 lap sportsman feature, a 50 lap late model feature, etc. I am not talking every week, maybe once or twice a year.

Pevely and Tri-City would be two good candidates for double file restarts.

However, when I lived in Texas, every single track I ever visited did double file restarts for every class. When I moved up here in the mid 90's, i wondered what the heck the deal was with these boring single file restarts. lol..

If a track has double file restarts they better have a good racey track. If it's a one lane track there will be alot of torn racecars.

another fun race that pevely used to do years ago was called an australian pursiut race<i believe that is propper name> 12 cars for 12 laps with a single file start. if you get passed completely by the guy behind you you are disqualified and have tto pull off. the winner is determined by only car left on track or whoever crosses finish line first after 12 laps. just a thought but was fun to watch back then. big paul

I'm a big fan of the King of the Hill dash. I think I-55 Raceway should consider doing that to cap off the first night of Pepsi Nationals and the Iron Man 55.

Highland did the double file re-starts back in the early 90's. I think the SARA president was Jim Yount but I am not 100% sure. I liked it but others complained about getting stuck in the slow lane.
