question for UMP and all stl members what about insted of having crate/pro late models having ump crate modifieds an leave the late models alone?what does everyone think? :cool:
 
I'm for a crate mod, the cost of these motors are killing me, i wouldn't mess with the late models though.
 
Actually I've always thought the mods and sportsman would be the place crate motors should be. My though was, put the affordable motor in the affordable cars. JMO
 
So if they did this what are we to do with our current motors? will you buy them all, becuse we sure wont be able to sell them to anyone...
 
It's already being done

There's crate motors racing in the B mod division right now. Bill Nickelson has been running one for 2 years and has been very competitive with it. I believe MCS gives a weight break to anyone running a crate motor.

Surely, if you are concerned about engine cost then your thinking about tires too? So whats your plan for tires? More than one manufacturer for engines? or do you like the current monopoly for engines? You want input and answers, whats yours?
 
A crate modified could be a class within a class. There are times that crate LMs can run better than mid-field with the Super Lates. This would be the case much of the time with mods. Crate LM time right with Mods on a dry track.

If the track can do crate inspection then find a sponsor to offer $50 or so to the best finishing Mod with a crate engine and see if any show up.
