Michael Long, Wyatt Lance and Eddie Dieker all took Season Championship feature event wins at Quincy Raceways Sunday night, September 14 as Henry Delonjay, Tony Dunker and Steve Carlin took their respective Track Points Championship Titles. Mark Burgtorf had earlier scored his 11th Track Points Championship in the Budweiser IMCA Late Model Division as points ended for the Late Models in late August.

Veteran Henry Delonjay jumped out to the early lead in the Miller Lite A-Modified Season Championship feature event and held off the challenges of Michael Long for the first 10 circuits of the event but Long grabbed the lead on the 11th lap and never looked back to claim his fourth feature win of the season. Delonjay fell back into the clutches of Ryan Meyer and the two battled for second for the last 10 laps but Delonjay held on to grab the second spot with Meyer in third, Jerry Weisenberger in fourth and Jim Roach in fifth. Meyer and Long took the heat race wins. Delonjay scored the Track Points Championship Title, his 11th Track Points Title, over Ryan Meyer by 15 points followed by Michael Long, Jerry Weisenberger and Brandon Lennox.

Wyatt Lance had took the lead at the drop of the green flag in the Season Championship feature event for the B-Modifieds and never looked back as he lead every lap on his way to the feature event win. Lance took the win over Jim Leffew in second, Tony Dunker in third, Joe Bliven in fourth and Marty Hull in fifth. Dunker, Lantz and Leffew all took heat race wins with Leffew scoring the win in the P&S Auto and Truck Collision Repair Trophy Dash. Tony Dunker’s 3 place finish gave him his first ever Track Points Championship Title over Lance by 11 markers. Joe Bliven, Marty Hull and David Wietholder rounded out the top 5 in points for the B-Mods.

The Bomber Season Championship feature event was marred by several caution flags which led to the event being shortened to 12 laps from its 18 lap scheduled length. The caution flags may have limited the laps but the action provided by the front of the pack was intense as the Bombers competed for the last points of the year. Points leader, Steve Carlin went into the event with a 6 point lead over Billy Genenbacher for the Track Points Championship and he was prepared for the challenge to stay on top as he jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag. Carlin held on to the top spot until Eddie Dieker came through the field to pull into the top spot on lap 9. Dieker held onto the lead over the last 3 laps to claim the Season Championship feature event win but Carlin won the war as he claimed the second spot with Adam Birch in third, Brent Chapman in fourth and Jerry Jansen in fifth. Billy Genenbacher had his chances for a third track title squashed when his Mopar’s engine let go in a cloud of smoke on the 6th lap. Carlin claimed his first Track Points Championship by 10 points over Dieker in second, Genenbacher held onto third followed by Adam Birch in fourth and Jeff Delonjay in fifth. Birch, Genenbacher and Dieker all took heat race victories.

Mark Burgtorf and Lonnie Bailey drew the front row starting spots for the draw/redraw 30 lap feature event for the Budweiser IMCA Late Models and did they ever put on a show. Bailey took the lead at the drop of the green flag and chose to make the choppy high line his fast groove as Burgtorf challenged on the bottom of the quarter mile oval. Bailey held off the 11 time Track Champion for the first 18 circuits when Burgtorf took the lead as Bailey got slowed by the rough conditions on the top groove but Bailey charged back and retook the lead on the next circuit as Burgtorf clung to the smoother bottom groove. Bailey lead the next 4 laps as they battled side by side for the lead. Burgtorf got by Bailey again for the lead on the 24th lap coming off turn 4 as Bailey continued to battle on the top. Burgtorf clung to the lead through lapped traffic to the checkered flag with Bailey settling for the second spot. Brent Slocum took the third spot over Ron Elbe in fourth and Dustin Neese in fifth. Mike Karhoff and Terry Gallaher were the heat race winners while Dustin Neese took home the hardware in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Late model feature was the best race I have seen in several years! Burgtorf showed the most patience I have seen in a driver in a long time. Great show!

Quincy racing

Yup! Bailey showed him the inside just a little too much. Great Race! End of year - How legal were they? - what is to lose?
I didn't follow inspection.

Seems like maybe cool nights the engines run noticably better!

Which is it?
