Beckley, WV - Smithville, Ohio resident Doc Lehman has been selected as DIRT LATE MODEL MEDIA PERSON OF THE YEAR for 2002, by the monthly motorsports publication, RACING AMERICA.

Lehman, a veteran in dirt late model promotions and media relations, was selected based on overall effectiveness of quality storylines for dirt late model racing and relentless efforts on effective ideas and concepts to further promote the sport.

Lehman is a former racetrack and sanction promoter who currently writes for a half-dozen auto racing publications and serves as the Associate Director of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame.

" We are pleased to have selected Doc Lehman for the honor", stated Ernie Shelton, President of TYLERCO GROUP USA, LLC, the parent company of RACING AMERICA. "I have personally known Doc for many years and consider him a special friend", said Shelton.

"But , from a professional standpoint, his stories that he has provided us for our publication has been forthwith and interesting to our readers ",

"Doc Lehman definitely has the vision that is needed in the 21st century to further enhance the exposure of dirt late model racing to the masses of the public, a sport which has been stagnant from a marketing standpoint since the 1980's and he has shown that in 2002", Shelton concluded.
