Thanks Rick and bev for the oportunity to let me work there with you, i enjoyed the time i was there and was hoping it would last. Good luck with the three boys racing this year. And If anyone knows a millionaire with some money to throw away, throw it towards mount vernon.

Squirrel before you start calling other people stupid, you may want to try understanding their post instead of looking to start ****, What I was saying in my post was that for two owners who have never shown up at the track and then demand 10,000.00 a week was pure greed that just killed another track. So the only "stupid" post so far seems to be yours.

i didnt see where 3s called anyone "stupid"
but i wouldn't call any track a dump. it may be all i have as a fan in the future to see any racing.

HOLY CRAP JIMMY D.!!! HE IS CURSING!!! BETTER BAN HIM!!!!..... JK ;)

I was gonna stay out of this one, but it is truly a shame that MVN got closed down. The track was always fun to run. But the "cleanup crew" really did ****! I dont know how much garbage I found around that place... I should take some pics of our track for future refrence of a CLEAN track... aint even no smoking ANYWHERE in the grandstands.... Allright, off topic... MVN was a great track and thats all the matters!!! I'd love to see someone buy it out. Heck I am sure that the "wreckin Macon Crew" would buy it... but then again, 2 saturday night shows for them wouldnt be good... IDK... shame we lost another... One of ours was closed last year also

This really saddens me to hear that Mt. Vernon track is closing. Of all the years I've been going to races, that was one of my favorite tracks to go to. I always enjoyed traveling up there with my friends to watch them compete. I just fear that this kind of bad news is eventually going to happen to other tracks as well due to our poor economic times. :(

The word needs to get back to Kenny, Tony and Jr. Kenny has raced at Mt. Vernon so he sould know a little about the track. Spread the word to them.

I'm sorry to see the track close -- running a racetrack can be a thankless job, especially in a rough economy. But the track closing is bad news for everybody involved.

One note, though: The current Mount Vernon track opened in either 1986 or '87, not 1978. I was there the first night it was open. Seems like Butch Burwell won the first late model feature there, but I'll have to go dig out some old newspaper clippings to be sure.

Last year at duqoin in the federated hospitality booth some guy asked kenny if he was interested in buying mvn track and he said "no way i have enough going on". but things could change. also kenny has plenty of money and money can buy people and people run things for him and his partners. jmo maybe he will consider with the new circumstances.

Folks, you are not going to find anyone to buy that race track in Mt. Vernon. first off you need alcohol sales, and you need racecars, the track cannot compete with the others running on the same night. 10 cars in each class isnt enough to bring any fans to the track.
