Lebanon,Mo.-Despite overcast skies and rain with the area, over 90 race teams checked into the LebanonMidwaySpeedway Friday Night competing on the tracks Final Double points night with close action in all.
The SuperStock feature would see Jason Otto grab the early control from his frontrow starting spot with points runner-up JC Newell right on his bumper.Pint leader and last weeks winner Tony Jackson Jr began his charge to the front from the 5th rown and caught the front running duo of Otto and Newell on lap 7, and used a smooth high groove pass to gather the win with Otto,Newell,Ben Newell, and Randy Hill completing the top 5.
The Modifieds took to the Midway with some of the best in Missouri onhand including LOS Speedway point leader Steve Payne in the field and KC area Hotshoe Matt"The Cat" Johnson making a visit.
On the start,Matt Johnson jumped from the pole to lead the opening lap with point leader Jamie Ragland right on his bumper.Back in the field Steve Muilenburg, and Mike Montague were coming from the 17th and 18th starting spots. The yellow quickly displayed as Jason Russell got it sideways ,but corrected the problem and Steve Payne suffered a broken tie-rod in the incident. On the restart,Johnson again took to the bottom as Ragland went looking upstairs.Behind this battle,Tim Brown,Tony Jackson Jr and Eric Hudson were battling for position along with Russell. On lap 8,Ragland made a sliding move on the inside and took over control from leader Johnson.Hudson and Jackson battled for third as Jackson took over and set his sights on the leader.Steve Muilenburg, who has had some rough luck this season had restarted 18th and by lap 11 moved into the top 5 and was battling Tim Brown for position.Up front Ragland and Johnson continued this battle up front.Following a lap 17 caution.Ragland jumped the cushion on the restart in turn 2 and Johnson went motoring by on the lowside to take the lead.Back in the pack,Brown and Muilenburg were moving fast as both drivers had made contact and restarted at the rear.On lap 21,Ragland found the burm on the low side of turn 4 to overtaken leader Johnson, but "The Cat" pulled alongside down the frontstretch. With the white flag waving,Ragland kept to the low side as Johnson made a bold move even lower and at the line,Ragland grabs the win followed closely by Johnson,Jackson Jr,Hudson and Mike Montague. As Ragland headed to the scales, his transmission locked-up as the winner went to victorylane on the end of a wrecker hook.
The Winged SprintCars took to the Midway as Joe Todd grabbed the early lead with Dustin Arnall, point leader Eric Todd and Steve Lawrence in tow.On lap 9,Eric took to the highside of Arnall and set his sights on leader Joe Todd. The caution waved on lap 10 has Scott Wedelstadt locked it up on the frontstretch to avoid a spinning car.Wedelstadt's night was done as Eric Todd stayed on Joe's bumper. On the restart,Eric made a power move to the top and overtook the leader and never looked back in recording the win followed by Joe Todd,Dustin Arnall,Steve Lawrence and John Rowland.
The FactoryStock feature had point leader Randy Berry grab the opening lead with Glen Dismang,Tim Brown and Bobby Ratterree in tow.Back in the field,Josh Franklin powered to the front quickly and moved into second spot behind leader Berry and then Tim Brown made the move to the top of the track grabbing the lead all in a 1 lap pass.Out in front Brown pulled away from the field as Franklin and Justin Stoufer battled for second place, until lap 10 when Stoufer had problems coming off of turn 2 forcing him to the rear.Out in front Brown moved flawlessly to grab the win followed by Bobby Ratterree,Franklin,Didmang, and Randy Berry.
The Mini-stocks provided excellent racing as Tony McClain grabbed the early lead with point leader Dave Williams following closely. On lap 6,Williams grabbed control as Tony Moore and last weeks winner Chuck Kidwell closed up the gap.Bobby Moore was working the high-side and on lap 13 caught the front running pack.Heading for the checkered flag with Williams in the lead,Moore used the highside and nipped Williams at the line grabbing his second win of the season followed by Williams,Tony Moore,Kidwell, and early leader McClain.
The Bombers again provide excellent racing as Dusty Rhoades jumped to the early lead followed closely by Jon Muilenburg and Tyler Brown. On lap 5 point leader Mike Piercey got involved in an incident and retired to the pits.On the restart,Rhoades had several attempts by Muilenburg in MaMa's StationWagon as last weekends winner Bill Roberts was coming quickly along with Dale Rodden.Up front,Muilenburg started to pass leader Rhoades, but the caution waved for an incident involving Jerry Goring. On the restart,Muilenburg again moved up to Rhaodes door, but Rhoades hung on to gather the win followed closely by Muilenburg,Roberts,Tyler Brown and Dale Rodden.
Next Friday night regular Racing show as WingedSprints,Modifieds,SuperStocks,FactoryStocks, and Bombers compete with Racing at 8PM.
