COLUMBUS, MS – Rain with four laps complete forced postponement of the 40-lap $3,000-to-win StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway. The race will be finished on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., and be picked up on lap five.

The first four laps of the race saw one lead change with Mike Boland of Cuba, AL passing pole sitter David Gentry of Lewisburg, TN on lap three.

Boland, who was the fast qualifier on Friday among the 45 entrants, will lead the field to green on the Sunday lap five restart in the Ware Construction GRT. Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN will restart in the second spot driving the Austin Trucking Mastersbilt.

Gentry will restart in the third spot, but by taking the green flag on Saturday night in the Dixon Plumbing Mastersbilt, he clinched the 2006 StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Championship, the $20,000 top prize, and a new Mastersbilt chassis from Mastersbilt Race Cars.

Gentry took the early lead from the pole position he earned after winning the StormPay.com Lightning Quick 6 Dash earlier in the day. Boland moved up from his fourth starting spot to challenge Gentry for the lead. Boland got a run on Gentry coming off the second turn on lap three to take the lead going down the backstretch, bringing Johnson with him into the second spot.

Just after the pass for the lead took place, rain began to fall, and the caution flag that waved on lap five for rain quickly gave way to a red flag, as the precipitation saturated the 3/8-mile dirt oval into unsafe racing conditions.

In preliminary action on Saturday night, T.K. King of Columbus, MS won the first 12-lap B-Main in the King Motor Company GRT, and Frankie Beard of Hartwell, GA won the second 12-lap B-Main in the Old 29 Golf Carts Barry Wright.

Beard has clinched the 2006 StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series C.J. Rayburn Rookie of the Year Award, and will receive a new C.J. Rayburn chassis from Rayburn Automotive.

Tony Shelton of Steens, MS was added to the starting field as the first alternate in the B&S Auto Sales and Salvage GRT after Landon Frith of Terry, MS, who was scheduled to start the main event from the 14th starting spot in the Swinging Bridge Raceway Mastersbilt, broke during the pre-race warm-up session.
