With the anticipation of the Demo cars at intermission the fans filled the grandstands even in the turn three/four bleachers. The night was a success for some and a not so good night for others. During hot laps Justin Rapp, tagged the wall in turn three and four hard enough to spin him around and end up on top of the fence, unable to return for the rest of the night. During qualifying, David Flowers (99) came out in his Red colored Open Wheel and set a quick time of 14.032 sec. During Late Model qualifying, the 33 Burr Motorsports Red Ford ! Machine being driven by Randle Sweeney set the lightening quick time of 12.749 sec. And then in Pro Street qualifying it was the RC1 of Brian Caudle setting a quick time of 14.439 sec.

First out of the chute for the heat races were the Street Stock division. Dorris McCord (45) showed his strength as he led the first heat around to the checkered flag. In heat two it was the D4 of Sam Morgan showing the way. Heat three went to Michael Sholar driving the 1M. Heat four was led to the checkered by Dale Phillips in his 87 Camero.

Open Wheel quick six dash was next on the schedule with Wally Walker showing the way. The pole setter, David Flowers had his motor expire. The heat race went to Michael Lee in his Black 55.

The Late Model quick six dash came out next, with Tony Albright (1) showing that his is a threat anytime he is in his own car. Darrell Brown in his 33T took the checkered flag of the only heat race for the Late Models.

The Pro Street quick six qualifier came out next, with the RC1 of Brian Caudle showing the way. The first heat race went to the pole setter of Lucas Lee (55), with heat two going to Matt Potter (64) who also started on the pole.

Mini Modified division heat races were the last to be completed, with the first heat going to Floyd Clinard, Jr. in the 05, and heat two going to Dale McCord in the 31. Keep in mind McCord had the use of both hands but in the accident he had last weekend he suffered a broken wrist and had a brace on that arm this weekend.

So with intermission came the Demo Derby, after about thirty minutes of crashing and banging in the turn one and two end of the infield it was the 36C of Mike Coomer of Elkton, Ky finally fighting through the whole derby and finally flipping Bobby Law in the 22 over to finish. Congratulations to Mike and the Derby folks for putting on one awesome display of how to legally get away with beating and banging.

On to the feature events of the night. First feature on the schedule was the Open Wheels. Thank you to Scott Hesse for letting David Flowers use his car for the feature because of the point’s race. The real success story of the night came from the Lee racing camp; Michael Lee (55) came from the seventh starting position to get another win on the season. He was followed to the strip by Mike Neighbors (711N), Charles Zimmerman (93), Mike Sweeney (25S) and Gerald Hodge (10) rounding out the top ten.

The next feature that came out was the Late Models. Albright and Sweeney on the front row we knew it was going to be a battle. Albright low side Sweeney top side then a switch of grooves during the race led to more excitement but it was Randle Sweeney in the 33 showing the was to the strip. Albright followed Sweeney for second. Gaining fast on the leaders was Gary Frost (F14), but the race was a few laps short for him to catch up only to finish in the third spot. Mike Chandler (51) finished up th! e night finishing in the fourth spot and Shawn Granderson (41) rounded out the top five after a few weeks of not racing with us.

Brian Caudle (RC1) raced to another victory in the Pro Street division. He was followed by the 98 of Tommy Harris who came home second. Larry Hamm in the 93 finished up in the third spot with Murdock Russell in the 69 car finishing up in the fourth spot. And Jeff Joiner in the 24 rounded out the top five.

Two features on tap in the Street Stock division. The first feature went to Dorris McCord in his Red 45 machine. The H55 of Ronnie Hedgepath finished up in the second spot, and Roy Brewington (117) came home in the third spot. Feature two was won by Dale Phillips (87) with Don Everett (9) trailing close behind. Sam Morgan in the D4 finished up in the third spot.

Then Dale McCord topped the Mini Modified division feature race with Floyd Clinard, Jr in the 05 taking home a second. Michael Rittenberry (g3/10) ending the night in third and Billy Carter in the 22 wrapping up fourth. Don Donegan (54) rounded out the top five.

Another exciting weekend at the track for the fans and the racing teams has come to a close, like they say it’s all over but the crying. Shake the bad off and start over next weekend is what my father used to say. Thank you to all the local supporters and fans that came out this weekend and we hope to see you again this coming weekend “At the Track”
