Randy Korte Press Release

RKR Motorsports
First of all, we would like to thank everyone for their continued support over the last few months. We are thankful for all the thoughts, prayers, well wishes, and get well cards.

We have heard several “rumors” regarding Randy’s health and wish to clarify the issue for those that have expressed concern.

Over the last few months, Randy has experienced several scares that have led to a few surgeries. It was thought that Randy had a rare blood cancer called multiple myeloma. Fortunately, all tests for multiple myeloma have been negative. Randy has endured several compression fractures in his spine. In 2008, he experienced a compression fracture at Volusia County Speedway. Over the last 2 years, Randy has had two additional compression fractures. One of the compression fractures required cement to be inserted into his spine in May 2010. The other fracture was much more complicated as it had the nerve to his legs completed engulfed. This made it very difficult for Randy to walk and he was laid up for several months prior to the surgery. At the same time, the doctors found a tumor on Randy’s hip. He had to have the tumor surgically removed and cement had to be inserted into his hip in order to strengthen the bone. This tumor was also negative for cancer. Randy then had a decompression on his low back in order to alleviate the pressure on the nerves to his leg. Within 3 weeks, Randy had two major surgeries. We are happy to report that there have been no reports of cancer.

Over the last month, Randy has been attending physical therapy addressing strength and endurance. We are very pleased with the progression that he has made and are very positive with the rehabilitation process.

We would like to thank ALL of the guys (Tony, Mikey, Tom-Cat, Brian, Tanner, Jordan, Josh, Tyler, Matt, Dale, Wimpy, Mr. Weber, Tina, Miss Jordan, and Captain Jack) for ALL of their hard work and dedication at the shop while Randy has been out. The guys have gone above and beyond making sure that the all the work is done and the cars are ready to race on the weekends. Each and every one of them has contributed in the process as Randy has been recovering. We couldn't ask for a better group of guys!

Bryan Collins, Chad Zobrist, Kevin Weaver, Tom-Cat Carson, Billy Faust, and Frank Heckenast have all piloted the 00 at one time or another during the 2010 season. They have all done a great job and we are very happy with the end results. We also appreciate their crews helping our team during the season. We are very confident in ALL of the drivers who have driven this season.

We would especially like to thank Scott Weber for not only driving the 00 but also for being an amazing friend. You have been there with us through thick and thin and we appreciate everything that you, your family, and crew have done for us this year. We are so excited to have you as a part of Kehrer Brothers Motorsports and enjoy watching you progress both as a person and a driver. We look forward to many, many more wins and good memories over the years.
