(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The Ray Cook Racing team traveled to Woodstock,
Georgia last Saturday night for the annual running of the ‘Spring
Championship’ at the Dixie Speedway. Ray qualified seventh in time trials,
which meant that we would roll off seventh in the $3,000 to win A-Main
event. The Brasstown, North Carolina native immediately made his presence
known, as he picked off several cars and started to battle with Clint Smith
and Shane Clanton for the lead. After a great duel with Clanton throughout
the event, Ray rolled him on the outside following a late restart to take
the second spot for good. The “Tarheel Tiger” wound up finishing a strong
second to Clint Smith.

“It was a good run for us, but we had nothing for Clint (Smith),” commented
Cook recently. “He has been on quite a roll lately and has been really hard
to beat. We missed a little qualifying, but got the car tighter for the
feature and that really helped. I think we gained on it throughout the
night and hopefully we learned something of the Lucas Oil Late Model Series
show at Dixie on April 8.”

Ray and his Dirt Late Model team will compete in a pair of events this
coming weekend. On Friday, Ray will compete in the ‘Shoals Shootout’ at the
North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, Alabama. A $3,000 payday is on the
line at NAS this Friday in the unsanctioned event. For more information
concerning this show, visit www.northalabamaspeedway.com.

The following night will see Ray invade the North Georgia Speedway in
Chatsworth, Georgia for a $5,000 to win event. The O’Reilly Southern
Allstars Series will sanction the 50-lap affair on April 1 at the
ultra-quick North Georgia facility. Ray has posted a pair of strong
finishes at North Georgia already this season, so look for him to be a
threat for the win again this Saturday. For more information on this event,
