Ray Walsh's 2010 Impressive Chassis for sale

The tracks are hamstrung by UMP concerning rules and enforcement! I betting Bob Memmer wouldn't have allowed all this BS. You got a tire company in cahoots with a sanctioning body, causing a major conflict of interest. There is no reason that a street-type tire can't be used, except UMP wouldn't get their kickback. Why is an aluminum engine necessary, along with lightweight suspension pieces? To paraphrase "THE HAG",are the good times really over for good,Rolling downhill like a snowball headed for H*LL

its a lose - lose situation for all involved,, a great driver loses out, a track loses an exciting driver, the fans lose out, what does it take "nowadays" to run a competitve modified,, 30k to 60k. i dont know im asking? but if u add the 10k for a competitive chassis and the 15k to 25k for a "big boy motor" tires, fuel, etc. i can see why its out of hand... i can tell u that it was ray walsh who got me interested in watching dirt track racing at i-55... first time i went i watched him scrape that right rear all around that track, sparks flying, thats what it was all about what a show!!!!! ----- i just hope some how the dirt gods look down and help a driver who has given all of us some real fun fri and sat nites,, and not just ray..but there are a bunch of guys that think about the same thing every weekend. can i afford to race this week or not?

Despite the high initial investment to put together a competitive car in any racing it's generally the week to week costs that get out of hand. I see how it would be VERY easy to spend $30-50K a season to run a modified every week. And that's if the car stays generally clean and doesn't get torn up a lot etc. Fresh engine, fresh chassis, tires, fuel, oil and everything else will add up very quickly.

I agree with you all. Ray Walsh is who I always watched when I was younger and the reason I always give the top a try when I race.

Ive said this a lot.... if I was a promoter or Allied I would pick a group of 3 or 5 volunteers from each class of cars and appoint them as Rule's God's " keep it an odd number to elemenate stalemates" There job would consist of conducting meeting with all the drivers and putting Rule package's together that would cut cost within there class by as much as possible and still make this fun for all, I would also have that same group while there at it take on idea's of things that would draw a bigger fan base for example, contacting and maybe setting up celebrity races or inviting Radio DJ's to race like they did in the past. But all in all bigger car counts mean more winnings plus would allow more for advertising... I would say you could probly do this with as few as 3 good people total rather then 3 per class but basically giving a rough idea on what its gonna take to survive the hit America is taking right now and I dont think the worse is over.....just sayin !

And yeah I'm a huge WALSH fan and hate to see him hang it up as well as my brother being his last year but it is what it is....

Crate motors aren't immune to the rule bending, making the costs go up there, too. I'm sure tire costs wouldn't change much either. I wonder if a crate motor could compete at I-55,so a crate Mod would be limited to Highland,Belle-Clair, or TCS. Just my opinion....

Put them all back on an ignition system that isn't capable of turning over 7500 rpm, such as a stock HEI or Magneto. I'm sure people will still find ways around this, also.
